Greetings fellow Bizarros:

When you're hot, you're hot, and last weekend I was on fire based upon the number of reader comments I received. Saving maybe 2 or 3 every single one was negative, but still it's nice to see people responding. I reprinted a fair sampling below.

But just when you think the United States is mature and developed and experienced and enlightened enough to abandon the barbarian practice of arming every man, woman and half of the children in the country...the federal government turns around and closes.

So far it is only the so-called "non-essential" services, but as the shut down continues more and more departments will be abandoned. Border Patrol, the FDA, the DEA, the BATF&E, the FCC, the SEC. Pretty soon chaos will reign in the streets.

Crime will become rampant, riots will ensue, looters and rape gangs will be roaming the streets. Petty war lords will start taking over small municipalities and running them like totalitarian gang territories. People will have to resort to murder for a bite of food or a gallon of gas.

And who will be the survivors? Only those slinging hot lead.

Bizarrely,
Lewis

* Cheerleaders ticketed for performing in the road *

LONDON, Ontario - A cheerleading coach at the University of Western Ontario in Canada said the team's captain was ticketed for leading a street-side cheer during homecoming. Coach David Tracey said team captain Max Gow led a cheer routine in the street in a student neighborhood in London while walking to Saturday's homecoming game, the QMI Agency reported Monday. Tracey said police approached as three male cheerleaders were throwing a female cheerleader into the air. The officers told them they could not perform the routine in the street and Gow was issued a $136 ticket. "It's homecoming. Are we not supposed to generate spirit? We're the cheerleading team for goodness sake," Tracey said. The ticket said Gow was "causing a nuisance in the street by conducting a cheerleading performance." A police spokeswoman said she could not comment on the ticket until speaking with the issuing officer. Tracey said the street was already filled with people when the cheerleaders started performing. "If were truly blocking the street and tying up traffic and causing some kind of public disturbance then maybe I'd almost understand it, but not in this scenario," Tracey said.

*-- South Carolina couple ride ziplines down the aisle at wedding --*

ASHEVILLE, S.C. - A South Carolina couple who wanted their wedding guests to remember their ceremony as the "most fun" time rode zip lines down the aisle. Lauren and Ben Youngkin, who wed Saturday at the Crown Plaza in Asheville, said they did not warn their wedding guests before they showed up on zip lines, complete with harnesses, helmets and carabineers in addition to their formal attire, WHNS-TV, Greenville, reported Monday. "Zip-lining isn't omnipresent in our life, but, we have a good time. We like to laugh, and we like for everyone else to laugh, too. At our expense," Ben Youngkin said. The couple said their zip line scheme was aimed at amusing their wedding guests. "The most important thing about the wedding, we wanted people to come away from the wedding and say, 'that was one of the most fun times I've ever had,'" Lauren Youngkin said.

Sorry Lewis, but I could not disagree more. Disarm everyone is an open invitation to all the enemies of peace and freedom to invade our nation. And you forget the single largest part of the criminal element: the simple fact that criminals do not care what the law states. They would not simply hand over their firearms, nor would I. An attempt to do so would be the opening shot of a new civil war. Not that I think a new civil war is an entirely bad thing either - it may be the only way to save our nation from corruption, greed, and self-serving politicians anyways. -Indigo
[So much for reading comprehension. Foreseeing your very objections I addressed both of these issues. There are a number of nations in the world with a complete ban on weapons. You can look them up. Nobody invades them. This is 2013 Indigo, the only country who invades other countries anymore is the U.S. Besides, we are bordered on both sides by allies. Who would invade us without either Canada or Mexico stepping in? As far as criminals ignoring the law; that is only possible when there are weapons to be stolen or smuggled. If they are not manufactured or imported, where is a criminal going to get a firearm?]

YOU ARE A F**KING IDIOT. -Wade Cooley

With your rules in place, we would still be bowing to the queen, or speaking French. -Max
[Not every day can be a revolution, Max. Times change. We live in the modern world. Come join us!]

Your commentary on gun control is one of the funniest things you have written yet. I hate to use this trite old saying, but I will anyway: "If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have GUNS." In every country, bar none, that has outlawed firearms, the death rate due to murders, has decreased only slightly. No matter what our village idiots in Washington do, they can't get rid of all the firearms in this country, let alone the world. That being said, if the nut cases still can get guns, I want to keep mine close, loaded, and ready for use, if I could get away with it, I would wear an old fashion cowboy gun belt and carry an old fashion Colt 45 peacemaker in it. But I would only use it for fun. -Will Griffin

Lewis, You gun control theory is interesting, just backwards. Start with the government entities and eventually get to the law abiding gun owners. We would have a lot less crime, and much less socialist government before the process was complete. -Randy
[Just reading the comments in this issue should tell you that the process you describe would never work either.]

Actually the 2nd Amendment only grants such rights to a well regulated militia, that's operating in defense of a free state. Supreme Court later added the right to protect your home. Nothing allows Joe Schmoe the right to carry a gun because he's scared he'll be robbed. And, furthermore, the right to bear arms only applies to what a militia would normally use (IE, not automatic weapons). Even as recently as 2010, SCOTUS ruled nobody can carry any gun, anywhere, for whatever reason. For some reason, people have decided to ignore the first part about militias, and only deal with the second part, no prohibition on arms. Funny how so many people live and die by the 2nd Amendment, without having ever read what it actually allows.
[And what is a militia? The militia are ordinary citizen soldiers, not a professional fighting force. If the citizenry is not armed, what will they fight with? Sticks and stones?]
