Greetings fellow Bizarros:They say those who can, do, and those who can't, teach. And those who can't teach, teach gym. And apparently, those who don't want to teach gym call in bomb threats.
Denver police said an elementary school physical education teacher falsified a bomb threat to avoid having to go to work.
The district attorney's office said Jennifer Gomes, 42, left a note at the private Escuela de Guadalupe School saying, "there is a bomb inside."
Gomes, who was arrested last week, told police she left the note because she did not want to go to work that day. She is facing a class 6 felony count of false reporting of explosives and not being able to fake a cough over the phone.
Gomes, who was released after posting $2,000 bond, has been suspended from the school, where she has worked since spring 2010.
"The safety and well-being of our kids is our top priority and we are confident that we are providing this type of environment at Escuela right now. We are not able to get into the particulars of personnel matters. At this point the matter is now in the hands of the Denver police and the Denver DA's office," said David Card, president of Escuela de Guadalupe.

The man, whose name was not released, had crawled into a hole in the trunk leading to a cavity about 4 or 5 feet underground in Laguna Hills, The Orange County (Calif.) Register reported Tuesday. Battalion Chief Kris Concepcion of the Orange County Fire Authority said only the man's head and arms were visible and it took 90 minutes to retrieve the equipment necessary to cut him free. Firefighters were called to the scene to check the man's mental health. "Why he's in a tree, I have no idea," Concepcion said. It is unknown how long the man was stuck in the tree, and he was freed without suffering any injuries, the Los Angeles Times reported.
*-- Artist gives birth in gallery --*NEW YORK - A New York conceptual artist said she gave birth at an art gallery with an audience watching as part of an installation entitled "The Birth of Baby X." Marni Kotak gave birth Tuesday at the Microscope Gallery to a 9-pound, 2-ounce baby she dubbed Ajax before an audience of about 20 people, the New York Post reported Thursday. Kotak said the aim of the installation was to show giving birth is the "highest form of art." Kotak's husband, Jason Bell, said there has been some negative reaction to the installation. "There's a history of people who do stuff like this in art galleries," he said. "This guy shot a dog. This guy got shot by somebody in an art gallery. But this wasn't someone getting hurt. This was a positive thing."

Picture me as John Ritter in the 1979 movie "Americathon" where Ritter as President Chet Roosevelt hold a telethon in order to save the bankrupt country.]
I have a good idea for your platform. Put a strong rail on it. You don't want to fall off like Bob Dole. -David
Dear Lewis, Your characterization that the poor or the unemployed are more likely to turn to crime is insulting and bigoted. Criminals commit crimes out of greed, not need. Just ask yourself who robbed more people of more money and even destroyed more lives, Bernie Madoff, or the entire criminal population of South Chicago? -Kenneth
[
It's not my characterization...it's statistics. Poverty leads to crime. It has been demonstrated over and over again ever since numbers have been kept. Poverty is not the ONLY factor that contributes to increased crime, but it's a biggie.]
Here's the deal: learn the rules; play to win. All our rules are designed BY and FOR the people who have money and power. Almost everything in life can be compared to a game. I'm not saying some things aren't very serious. What I'm saying is that there are rules and strategies for winning. The rich and powerful get to make those rules. You don't like the way the game is played? Change it. Stop voting for career politicians and they'll notice. Stop buying houses and cars that you can't afford. When we collectively make better choices, the ones who are getting rich off our bad choices will have to change their game.
