Greetings fellow Bizarros:

Sometimes it seems like cops, who are professionally trained to use firearms, have the worst safety record. I am sure everybody is familiar with the famous video of the cop who shoots himself in the middle of a gun safety course. If not you need to click the link here: Gun Safety the Wrong Way

Only slightly less embarrassing is this story from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. At least the officer here was not giving a lecture on gun safety when his firearm went off accidentally, unfortunately the person he shot was his wife...in the ass.

Dauphin County District Attorney Edward M. Marsico Jr. said Harrisburg police officer William Owens was showing off his gun at his home when the firearm accidentally discharged several times, striking Lakita Owens once in the buttocks.

Marsico said investigators are working to determine whether alcohol played a role in the incident, and charges could be filed if the shooting is determined to have been reckless.

Owens, who was suspended without pay, declined to comment on the investigation. He said his wife is recovering from her injury. It will also likely be the last time she will take it in the ass from her husband.

CLEVELAND - Cleveland prosecutors have dropped their case against a man who was ticketed for littering when he dropped a dollar he was attempting to give a disabled person. Chief City Prosecutor Jonathan Cudnik dropped the case Thursday against John Davis in Judge Angela Stoke's courtroom, saying the city does not consider money to be trash, WJW, Cleveland, reported Thursday. Davis said he was relieved by the decision, as the $344 littering ticket was approaching $500 with court costs factored in and he would lose additional money from missing work and attorney's fees. Davis said his attorney, Marcus Sidoti, will donate all fees to the Different Needz Foundation charity.

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - A Massachusetts woman said she investigated bird sounds in her yard and discovered a baby cardinal with two heads and three beaks. April Britt of Northampton said she and her husband followed the sounds of squawking birds in their back yard to a tree where they discovered the baby female cardinal with the unusual deformities, WGGB-TV, Springfield, reported Thursday. "My husband says, 'Oh my God. Look at this poor thing! That's an oddity if I ever saw one,'" Britt said. "I've never seen anything like that before." Britt said she discovered the bird on the ground a few hours later and donned a plastic glove to return it to the tree. She said the baby cardinal was nowhere to be seen the following morning. "I would like to know she survived." Britt said. "The neighbor is going to keep an eye to see if she sees her."

Lewis, did you read this story? In yet another horrifying incident of human flesh-eating this week, a student in Maryland allegedly admitted to devouring his roommate's brain and heart.

Apparently, the Pennsylvania police department needs to start paying their officers a decent salary so they can afford to go to a laundry mat or buy a washer/dryer set. That is, if they don't have an empty house next door already equipped with one. -Lisa
