Greetings fellow Bizarros:

It's a sad day for America, folks. Once again the Supreme Court has failed to step up to the challenge of preserving our freedom as Americans to keep and bear dildos.

In a case that earned a lot of attention in Texas a couple years ago, an adult bookstore employee in El Paso, Texas, sued the state after his arrest for showing two undercover officers a device shaped like a penis and telling the female officer the device would arouse and gratify her.

This week the Supreme Court refused to consider whether the Texas law making it a crime to promote sex toys shaped like sexual organs is unconstitutional.

The employee, Ignacio Sergio Acosta, says a Texas law outlawing the manufacture, marketing or dissemination of an 'obscene device' including those shaped like sex organs is unconstitutional because it prevents individuals from using such devices, violating their right to sexual privacy.

Colorado, Kansas and Louisiana have held such laws unconstitutional, while Georgia, Mississippi and Texas have upheld them, said Acosta's lawyer in urging the Supreme Court to take the case.

In case you didn't pick up on it earlier I'd like to point out the really conspicuous fact in this case which is that during the original arrest the sex toy was sold to two 'undercover' cops. That's right, folks, they were on a dildo sting. How's that for bizarre?

Bizarrely,
Lewis

*-- Georgia Tech seeks to stop 'T' thefts --*

ATLANTA - The Georgia Institute of Technology said it has spent more than $100,000 replacing the letter "T" on various signs after repeated thefts. Undergraduate President Elle Creel said stealing the "T" from Tech Tower is a tradition stretching back to the 1960s, but it has recently spread to taking the "T" from signs all over campus, including stadium signs and library book return boxes, WAGA-TV, Atlanta, reported Wednesday. The student government is encouraging thieves to return the pilfered letters with its "Keep the T in Tech" campaign, which is allowing those who take the letters to return them Wednesday with no questions asked. "They can come by our student government office all day. We are also going to have the Rambling Wreck our mascot. You can come by Skiles Walkway and drop off the T in the wreck. There will be no questions asked. We don't care why you stole the T or when. We just want to know where you got it so we can restore it to its rightful place," Creel said.

*-- Woman finds profanity on Starbucks cup --*

NEW YORK - A New York woman said she was shocked to find a derogatory name written on the side of the cup she received from her usual Starbucks. Vicki Reveron said she often visits the Starbucks on 8th Avenue at 35th Street because it is near her workplace and she was shocked when an employee labeled her cup with a "b-word" meaning a female dog, WABC-TV, New York, reported Wednesday. "I feel degraded actually. It's a degrading word here," Reveron said. Reveron said there had been a mixup with her order of a caramel frappuccino just prior to the incident. "We made light of the mistake the order taker had made so I mean no harm no foul, but unfortunately he took it another way," Reveron said. Reveron said a manager gave her free vouchers in compensation on the condition she not "associate the cup with the location." However, Reverson said she has instead decided to switch to a different coffee shop. A manager at the location described the incident as a "mistake" and a company spokesman said officials "have apologized numerous times for this unfortunate misunderstanding."

*-- READER COMMENTS --*

Lewis, Two things... 1) About the denture lawsuit...I wear dentures and my dentist said not to chew gum because it can damage the dentures. Evidently the outer coating can scratch them. Also the gum bits, as this lady found out, stick in them without coming out easy. 2) The Indiana ruling is a gross violation of the words and intention of the 4th Amendment. - Devoted reader from Chicago
[Did you know that the toothbrush was invented in Indiana. If it was invented anywhere else it would be known as the teethbrush.]

Lewis - per the comment on life in jail for all murders. John is not taking into consideration intent, motive, opportunity or any other level of responsibility relating to the death. Cause of death can be by car, negligence, assault, etc. There are a myriad of reasons why the punishment is lighter or heavier than the victim's relatives would care to see. That's one of the many reasons laws are so complicated, judges are overworked, cases last forever and lawyers are so slimy. - James - San Diego
[Calling a lawyer "slimy" is a bit redundant, isn't it?]

It may be OK in Indiana for police to enter w/o warrants and illegal to "resist"- they'd better be in uniform and well identified. It is NEVER a good idea to 'resist' the police- they have a badge( power) and a gun (serious power)
and are well trained. Resisting, even if you are in the right and they screwed up, can result in YOU committing another crime while defending yourself. They have to really screw up to get your charges dropped.. - Corky
