Greetings fellow Bizarros:

So last week we had a spring breaker who got drunk and tried to shoot her boyfriend and threatened cops. What is wrong with the world? You might be asking yourself. Well, this week we have a story of redemption. Or at least a guilty conscience.

As the Proverb says, the guilty flee where one pursueth. This was certainly true for an thief who anonymously returned $800 he stole from a store in western Michigan.

What is so bizarre about that? He stole the money 30 years ago.

The thief sent a note and $1,200 in $100 bills to the Barry County sheriff's department in Hastings. The writer admitted breaking into the Middle Mart about 30 years ago.

In a letter packed with emotion and spelling errors, the writer asks for 'help in locating a man' to whom the writer owes the money.

"I did a very bad thing that I am shamed of and have lived with this guilt," the writer said. "I can't begin to say how sorry iam but have lived with this guilt too long. If you do find him, please tell him that I was afoolish stupid man when I did that and iam sorrie."

The $1,200 includes some interest, although the stolen $800 would be worth about $1,800 today. But it's the thought that counts.

Undersheriff Bob Baker said the letter and cash came as quite a surprise.

"This doesn't happen every day," Baker said.

Bizarrely,
Lewis

*-- Public employees told to bring own TP --*

WINDSOR, Mo. - A Missouri mayor said he was shocked when a speaker at an aldermanic meeting revealed public works employees had been told to bring toilet paper from home. Windsor Mayor Justin Brown said he was shocked when Nancy Dunbar spoke at last week's meeting and suggested a fundraiser to stop the policy of requiring the city's 10 public works employees, who are all male, to bring their own toilet paper to work, KCTV, Kansas City, Mo., reported. "I was just really incredulous that this was a topic to be brought up at a City Hall meeting, much less have any truth to it," Brown said. "The No. 1 emotion is embarrassment. We have a lot of good things going on in our little town, and this is the topic." Dunbar said Brown wasn't the only one shocked by the revelation. "The mayor was like, 'What are you talking about?' Because the mayor had no idea. The aldermen had no idea. I mean mouths just dropped," Dunbar said. Dunbar said the policy came from an edict handed down by city administrator Sandra Underwood. However, Underwood said the order came from the head of Public Works and she was not involved. Brown said toilet paper is now being provided for the men. "We are always looking for ways to save money," Brown said. "I'm just fearful that this finally hit a fever pitch and this is where it got ridiculous."

*-- Mom, 8-year-old son are crime fighters --*

CLEVELAND - A Cleveland woman and her 8-year-old son took on a home invasion and won, by dunking the intruder's head in a fish tank, among other actions. Jamila Sloan said the suspect entered her home Saturday and "busted through my kitchen door." "This is my house," she later told WOIO-TV. "I was really in fear of my life, my son's life." Police said she and son Chris Turner pushed the intruder into the fish tank, and hitting him on the head. "I was choking him and punching him and biting and scratching and doing everything I could," she said. When the suspect pulled his mom's hair, the son "got really, really mad," Chris said. "I got mad and starting hitting him with a handle from my scooter." Cleveland police arrested Talbert Glenn at the scene, adding Glenn has a criminal record for drug and weapons possession.

Well, that will probably cost her about what a semester of classes would. Except it won't look as good on final year report. Don't colleges offer drinking hazards 101? Apparently the kids don't read or hear of crazy reports of others either. Just glad no life was claimed.

Hi Lewis. You go guy. You told the story just the way it is. That's why I love reading your column. Keep up the good work. -Shirley

I just wonder what ever happened to this America? The place where you held your head high, and said the "Pledge of Allegiance to the flag". The place where nothing but the truth was told or be held responsible for your actions? Could it possibly be that all this free monies are being handed out to whoever will apply for them with or without a conscience? This person or that person is doing it so why can't I? Greed has taken a lot of good people and turned them evil. -Charlie
