Bizarre News - December 10, 2014

Greetings fellow Bizarros:

Air traffic control must be a little different in Korea than it is in the United States. In the U.S. passengers can't order planes to delay their flights because of bad cabin service, no matter who the passenger is, but in Korea...

A Korean Air executive has resigned from some of her duties after she ordered a flight to be turned around to the gate and a flight attendant off the plane because she was served nuts in a bag instead of on a plate.

Heather Cho, whose Korean name is Cho Hyun-ah, resigned from the airline's catering and in-flight sales business, and its cabin service and hotel business divisions, an airline spokesman said.

But she is keeping her title as a vice president of the national carrier.

The incident occurred at New York's JFK airport on a flight due to take off for South Korea's Incheon International Airport, outside Seoul.

Cho reportedly demanded that the plane go back to the gate so the crew member who served her macadamia nuts out of a bag rather than on a plate in First Class could be kicked off the flight.

Although her role put her in charge of in-flight service, she was only a passenger on this flight and was not flying in an official capacity.

According to South Korean news agency Yonhap, Cho is the eldest daughter of Korean Air's chairman, Cho Yang-ho.

He apologized Tuesday for any inconvenience caused to passengers and said the incident would be investigated.

Bizarrely,
Lewis

*-- A wing and a prayer? Church moving services to restaurant --*

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (UPI) - An Alabama church announced it will start holding services at a Buffalo Wild Wings to reach potential parishioners who "wouldn't go to a church." The Rev. Wesley Savage, minister of young adults for Riverchase United Methodist Church in Birmingham, said the church is planning to begin holding Sunday morning services at a local Buffalo Wild Wings in the hopes of attracting worshipers who might be intimidated by the church setting. "We believe there's a population that would attend a service there that wouldn't go to a church," Savage told AL.com. "We hope it's going to be a more inviting atmosphere." The services have been dubbed "The Stream" and they are being billed in signs posted by the church as "Wings. Prayer. Sports." However, Savage said the restaurant will be preparing to open during the 45-minute services, so no beer will be served during worship. "I've had that question come up," Savage said. "We're going to encourage people to stay for lunch, stay for sports. This is part of the partnership. We'll help them with their business because they're helping us."

*-- TGI Fridays' 'Mistletoe Drone' slices woman's nose --*

NEW YORK (UPI) - The ballyhooed "Mobile Mistletoe" drones launched by TGI Fridays have claimed their first victim, a New York photographer who lost the tip of her nose. Georgine Benvenuto, a photographer for the Brooklyn Daily, told the newspaper one of the two mistletoe-toting drones at the Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, location spun out of control Dec. 4 and struck her in the nose. "It literally chipped off a tip of my nose," she said. "It took off part of my nose and cut me here, right under my chin." "Thank god it didn't go anywhere under my eye -- that is my livelihood," Benvenuto said. David Quiones, drone operator at the restaurant, said the small aircraft spun out of control during an attempt to land it on a Brooklyn Daily reporter's hand. He said the reporter flinched during the landing, sending the drone out of control toward the photographer's face. Quiones said the incident will not bring an end to the Mobile Mistletoe program. "If people get hurt, they're going to come regardless. People get hurt in airplanes, they still fly," Quiones said. "There is a risk involved -- anything flying, there is risk." Frances Karkosak, a spokeswoman for the restaurant chain, said there were no previous incidents during Mobile Mistletoe events in Long Island and Texas. "We do not let consumers touch it," Karkosak said. TGI Fridays said in promotional material for the event last week the aim was to inspire "mobile mistletoe mischief" with the camera-outfitted drones. "If guests show a little love under the mistletoe, Fridays might just show them a little love with some nice holiday gifts," the chain said in promoting the event.

Hi Lewis, You're so cute (funny).. You make my day. Even when I'm not running a high fever. Did I spell Bizzare correctly? -Patty
[Sounds like my entire high school and college career. Women frequently found me cute and funny. Rarely cute, funny and sexy. And no.]

Lewis; I've never gotten a tattoo because I can't think of anything I'd want displayed on my body for the rest of my life and characters from The Simpsons or any other cartoon series wouldn't even make my list of possibilities. However in my childhood I did enjoy temporary tattoos of popular cartoon and comic book characters of that era. -R.S.

Hi Lewis Yes you would win that bet. Those guys looking for golf balls in crocodile infested water had a few to drink It was 11 o clock at night, so they werent playing golf at all Most comments from people here were more concerned that the croc was shot afterwards , because he was in their lunch bowl so they think he deserved it. Wow!
[It may have been the golfer's fault, but you still can't have man-eating crocodiles running (swimming) around. They will start to think all golfers are an easy hot lunch.]
