Hello Friends,

My weight is always yo-yoing. That means a whole lot clothes in multiple sizes! It is just too many and I can never quite get my closet organized because it is overflowing.

Since I'm no longer working full time any extra money I can make is helpful. I went through all my clothes and decided to list most of them on a resale app. In about an hour I had a about 20 items posted, and within the week I had made real money off clothes that were already headed out the door.

The stuff that didn't sell be donating. It felt less like extra work and more like getting paid for a chore I was already doing anyway.

Be Well,

Why Reselling Your Closet Swap Matters

Most of us treat a closet swap as a one way trip to the donation bin, and plenty of what goes in that bag is genuinely worth money to someone else. Skipping the sort means giving up real money, and means missing a chance to make room for fall without spending anything new to do it.

Resale apps have made the selling part almost as easy as the donating part. Many will generate a shipping label for you, suggest a price, and put your item in front of shoppers who are already looking for exactly what you are trying to get out of your closet.

How To Do It

1. Sort into three piles as you swap.
While you are already pulling out warm weather clothes, split them into keep, sell, and donate instead of one big bag. This adds almost no extra time to a chore you are doing anyway.

2. Pull out anything in good condition or from a known brand.
Items without stains, holes, or heavy wear, especially recognizable brands, tend to sell fastest and for the best price.

3. Pick a platform that matches your effort level.
Apps like Poshmark or Depop let you list and price items yourself for a bigger payout. Send in bags like ThredUp do the sorting and photos for you in exchange for a smaller cut.

4. Snap a few honest photos in good light.
You do not need a photo shoot, just a clear front, back, and close up of any tags or flaws, taken near a window.

5. Price it to actually sell.
Check what similar items are listed for and price yours to move rather than to sit untouched for months.

6. Give it a two week deadline.
If something has not sold in two weeks, drop the price once or send it on to donation. The goal is cash or closet space, not a permanent side project.

Steam out the wrinkles before you snap those resale photos. This handheld steamer heats up in under a minute so your listings look their best and sell faster.

It's a Small Sort With Big Payoff

Sorting a swap bag into sell and donate piles takes maybe ten extra minutes, and it costs nothing but that time. People who make a habit of reselling their seasonal cast offs often bring in anywhere from a few dollars to over a hundred each swap, money that would have otherwise gone out the door for free.

That is the kind of thrifty I love best, not cutting anything out, just making sure the things you are already letting go of work a little harder for you on the way out.
