Gun ownership is broader and more diverse than most assumptions. Understanding that helps cut through the noise.

Surveys consistently show gun ownership spans all income levels, education backgrounds, and political views, not just one narrow group.
Myth 1: Gun owners all fit one profile

There is a common image of a "typical" gun owner, but the reality is far more varied. Ownership cuts across age, gender, geography, and lifestyle.
Myth 2: Most gun owners are enthusiasts
Many owners are not hobbyists. A large portion report owning firearms for basic protection or family safety rather than sport or recreation.
Myth 3: Gun ownership is concentrated in rural areas
While rural ownership is higher per capita, millions of urban and suburban households also own firearms. It is more widespread than stereotypes suggest.
