Read about our staffGreetings!

Take a look in your kitchen drawer, there's a good chance you have a simple roll of aluminum foil sitting there. Most people use it for wrapping up leftovers or covering dishes, but that barely scratches the surface of what it can do.

Aluminum foil is one of those everyday items that quietly solves dozens of problems around the house, saving you time, effort, and even money.

Make Ironing Faster
Here's a simple trick you probably didn't know, and it feels like magic! Place a sheet of foil under your ironing board cover the next time you set out to iron your clothes. The foil reflects heat back through your clothes, helping smooth wrinkles faster and more evenly. Less time ironing, and better results.

Clean Jewelry
To clean your jewelry all you have to do is line a small bowl with aluminum foil, fill the bowel with hot water, and mix in one tablespoon of bleach-free powered laundry detergent (not liquid). Put the jewelry in the solution and let it soak for a minute or tow. Rinse well, and let it air-dry.

De-Rust Tools
Give rusty old tools a refresh with this simple hack. Dip a crumbled ball of foil in water and scrub the rusted spots. The abrasive action helps lift away surface rust without damaging the metal. It's an inexpensive way to extend the life of your tools.

Replace Your Dryer Sheets
Freshly cleaned laundry is a small luxury, but static can ruin it. If you are out of dryer sheets or looking for a more affordable alternative, this hack will change your life. Prevent clinging fabric by balling up some aluminum foil and tossing it into your dryer. While this may seem a little odd, the foil serves as a conductor for the electrons, catching all the unwanted static building up in your dryer. The only downside is there is no added fresh scent for your laundry.

Keep Celery Firm in the Fridge
Celery can be a fickle guest in the refrigerator. It can be frustrating to have celery that is perfectly fine, but it turned to rubber. To prevent this, toss the plastic sleeve your celery comes in and swap it for some aluminum foil. The plastic actually traps in ethylene gas, the ripening agent most fruits and veggies product. The key is to wrap (NOT seal)) your celery in the foil. This will help keep moisture locked in, but let's the ethylene escape, making your celery last longer.
