Handy Hint: You Are Wrapping Your Cheese Wrong
Wrap cheese in parchment paper, not plastic wrap or plastic bags. Plastic traps moisture in and can make cheese mold faster. Wrapping it in parchment paper allows it to breathe while keeping it protected, keeping your cheese flavorful and fresher longer.
Thrifty Tip: Simple Avocado Trick
Store your unripe avocados at room temperature until they ripen. Once they are ripe, place them in the fridge to slow further ripening. The extend a cut avocados life, sprinkle some lemon juice on it, and wrap it tightly in plastic wrap before you put back in the fridge.
Thrifty Tip: Potatoes + Onions
Extending the life of your potatoes and onions is simple. Store them separately in a cool, dark, well-ventilated place. Keeping them apart prevents gases from one causing the other to sprout or spoil too quickly.
