Handy Hint: Keep Your Berries Fresher, Longer
If you aren't giving your berries a vinegar bath, you should be. Mix 1 part white vinegar with 3 parts water, soak berries for a minute, rinse, and dry thoroughly before putting in your fridge. This helps remove mold spores and can extend their freshness by several days.
Thrifty Tip: How To Store Herbs?
Store herbs just like you would store flowers. Trim the stems and place them upright in a glass with a little water, then loosely cover with a plastic bag and refrigerate. Fresh herbs like parsley and cilantro can last much longer this way instead of wilting in a drawer.
Thrifty Tip: Celery and Lettuce Trick
Wrap celery and lettuce in aluminum foil. Unlike plastic bags, foil allows ethylene gas to escape while keeping moisture in, helping crunchy veggies stay crisp for weeks instead of days.
