Handy Hint: Stop Pots From Boiling Over

Lay a wooden spoon across the top of the pot as it cooks. When bubbles rise, they hit the spoon and break before spilling over the edge. This will save you from having that sticky, burned-on mess on your stovetop. It works best for pasta, rice, and soups. Just make sure the spoon is dry and you place it across the pot for best results.

Thrifty Tip: Revive Stale Chips and Crackers

Don't toss them, try this first. Spread them in a single layer on a baking sheet and heat in the oven at 300 degrees for 3-5 minutes. The dry heat removes excess moisture and restores their crunch. Let them cool for a minute and they will crisp right back up making them perfect for snacking or crumbling over salads and casseroles.

Thrifty Tip: DIY Dusting Spray

Skip the pricey store brands, and make your own! Combine 1 cup of water, 1/4 cup of white vinegar, and a few drops of dish soap in a spray bottle. Lightly mist onto a cloth (DO NOT spray onto delicate surfaces) and wipe away dust, fingerprints, and grime. Works great on sealed wood, countertops, and many hard surfaces.
