Deodorize Shoes & Fridge
Salt is a simple, natural way to deodorize both shoes and refrigerators by absorbing excess moisture that causes linger odors. Place a small bowl or open container of salt inside the fridge or sprinkle salt into a breathable pouch or sock and set it inside a pair of smelly shoes overnight.

As the salt draws in moisture, it helps neutralize unpleasant smells without masking them with fragrance, making it an effective, chemical-free solution. It's safe, inexpensive, and easy to refresh by replacing the salt as needed.

Soothe Bug Bites
A simple sale and water paste can provide quick relief from itchy, swollen insect bites by drawing out moisture and reducing the irritation. Mix a small amount of salt with just enough water to form a thick paste, and gently apply it directly to the affect area. Let is sit there for a few minutes before rinsing off.

The natural properties of salt help calm inflammation, dry out the bit, and ease discomfort. This makes it a safe, cheap, and chemical-free remedy that's handy when you are outdoors or away from your medicine cabinet.

Clean Cast Iron
If you own a cast iron pan you probably already know this, but I'm featuring anyways. Sprinkle a generous layer of coarse salt onto the surface of the skillet, then use a damp paper towel or cloth to scrub away any stuck-on food or grease. The salt acts as a natural abrasive, loosening residue while preserving the seasoning of your pan. Once the pan is clean, just rinse with warm water and let is dry, then lightly oil to maintain its protective coasting.

Clean Coffee Mugs & Thermoses
Coffee and tea stains build up over time leaving your mugs and thermoses looking worn, but a simple pinch of salt can take care of that. Sprinkle some salt into the stained cup or thermos, then use a damp sponge (cloth or paper towel work too) to scrub the interior gently. After scrubbing, rinse well with warm water.

The salt will lift those stubborn stains without scratching the surface.
