Zip, Button, and Hook Before Washing

Did you know that leaving zippers open, or buttons undone is one of the biggest hidden causes of laundry damage? When these items are left unsecure you are opening the door for:

Snagged delicate fabrics
Stretched out collars, cuffs, and waistbands
Tear holes in knits, lingerie, and softer items
Damaging your washing machine drum and other clothes

Why Should I Zip Those Zippers?
- Protects the teeth from bending or breaking
- Stop jackets, hoodies, and jeans from catching on other items
- Keeps zippers smooth
Additional Tip: For jeans and pants with heavy zippers, turn them inside out to further prevent friction.

Why Should I Button The Buttons?
- Shirts, blouses, and pants will hold their shape better
- Will prevent collars from stretching and buttons popping off

Extra Pre-Wash Tips
Velcro & Snaps: Fasten before washing to prevent from catching on other articles of clothing
Embellishments: Place items with beads and sequins in a wash bag
Inside Out: Turn printed, embroidered, or dark clothing inside out to preserve color
