Read about our staffGreetings!

Mayonnaise isn't just a sandwich staple, it's also a surprisingly useful household helper.

Mayonnaise is made with three key ingredients: oil, eggs, and vinegar, which can work together to pull their weight far beyond the kitchen. The oil works to soften and moisturize surfaces, helping loosen stuck-on residue and dull marks. The vinegar's natural acidity cuts through grime and breaks down buildup, and the egg acts as a binder. This combination makes mayonnaise surprisingly effective for tackling small household cleaning and maintenance tasks without using harsh chemicals.

Handy Hint: Step Up Your Grill Cheese Game

Skip the butter and grab the mayo! Spread may outside your brown, you can thank me later. It browns evenly, gets extra crispy, and believe it or not...it tastes amazing!

Thrifty Tip: Sticker Residue Be Gone

Price tags, tape, or even stickers can leave behind a stubborn residue or a fine paper layer that even soap won't get off. A generous dollop of mayonnaise softens the adhesive in just minutes.

Simply apply, wait 5-10 minutes, then wipe clean with a dry cloth. The sticky mess completely off.

Thrifty Tip: Remove Water Rings From Wood

This one is legendary in home remedy groups, and it's easy to see why. A little mayo goes a long way in helping water rings disappear from wood. The oils also help to rehydrate the wood and fill in small cracks.

Apply a thin layer of the water ring or crack, and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Wipe off the area with a clean cloth, and gently buff it to moisturize it. You will be amazed!
