Handy Hint: Turn Used Coffee Grounds Into Deodorizers
Don't throw away your used coffee grounds, you can put them to work around your house. Dry the grounds completely and place them in an open jar, breathable pouch, or even a small bowl. They will naturally absorb odors that will keep your fridge, pantry, or garage smelling fresher without using store bought deodorizers.
You can even mix in a few drops of your favorite essential oils, like lavender or citrus, for a subtle scent. Refresh the grounds every few weeks to maintain their effectiveness. It's simple, reduces waster, and saves you money.
Thrifty Tip: Avoid Early Replacements
Replacing items too soon can quietly drain your budget. Many things get tossed not because they are worn out, but because they need a simple fix or just a good cleaning.
Loose screws, clogged filters, dull blades, or small stains can make items seem "done" when they still have plenty of life left. A few minutes of basic care can often extend their use by months or even years.
Before buying new, pause, and ask yourself: "Does this really need replacing, or just a little attention?"
Thrifty Tip: Make Drawer Sachets From Fabric Scraps
Don't waste youf money on scented sachets to keep your drawers and closets smelling fantastic. With a few fabric scraps like old socks, or even worn out pillowcases, you can make your very own in minutes.
Simply fill the fabric with baking soda to adsorb odors, or used dried herbs like lavender, mint, or even rosemary for a more natural scent. Ties the fabric closed with a string or rubber band, and tuck into a drawer, storage bin, or closet.
