Handy Hint: Old T-Shirts Instead of Paper Towels

Old T-Shirts don't need to make their way to the landfill. Cut them into rags for cleaning, dusting furniture, or even to wash your car. T-shirts are softer and more absorbent than paper towels - and it's free.

Thrifty Tip #1: Re-Purpose Old Glass Jars

Empty glass jars make great storage containers. You can use them to organize nails, screws, buttons, or even your craft supplies. They are useful in the kitchen too! Perfect for leftovers, homemade salad dressing, beans, rice, or any dry goods.

Bonus tip for glass jars: They make perfect mini planters for herbs, especially on windowsills where space is limited. Don't spend money on decorative pots, just reuse your jars that you already have. Herbs like basil, parsley, chives, mint, and thyme grow well in jars, and don't need much room.

Thrifty Tip #2: Clean Before You Replace

Many items you are tempted to replace aren't really worn out - they are just dirty. Before spending money on something new, try giving what you already own a good deep clean. You'll be surprised how much life is still left in it.

Shoes often look finished long before they really are, when all they need is a good cleaning with soap and water. Rugs and carpets brighten dramatically after a deep vacuum, spot treatment, or even a steam clean.

When in doubt, clean first...your wallet will thank you.
