Thrifty Tips
------------------------------------------------------------

Greetings!
Im Kris, the new editor of Thrifty Tips. I use to write Handy Hints years ago, and I'm excited to once again share simple, practical ways we can all save money!
Let's get started...
Brrr… winter is officially here, and it's cold outside! This time of year is cold, but it can also send those heating bills sky-high. So this week, I’m sharing a couple of simple (and surprisingly effective) ways to stay warm without cranking up the thermostat. Your wallet (and your toes) will thank you!

Handy Hint:
On sunny winter days, open curtains and blinds on the south and west facing windows to let the sun naturally warm your home. As soon as the sun sets, close them to trap the heat inside. Heavy curtains work the best, but even regular curtains will help.
Thrifty Tip:
Is cold air sneaking in through your doors or windows? Block drafts by using rolled up towels, blankets, or even old sweatshirts and place them along door bottoms and window sills. This simple trick can make rooms feel warmer almost instantly.
