Read about our staffGreetings!

When I was growing up, some of our best memories came from the simplest things. Movie nights with a blanket fort, backyard picnics, or neighborhood kickball games. We didn’t need much money, just a little creativity.

Lately, I’ve been trying to bring that spirit back. If you’re looking for ways to have fun without spending much (or anything at all), here are a few ideas that might just make your weekend feel a little richer.

Be Well,

1. Host a Potluck Picnic

Instead of eating out, invite friends or family to bring a dish and meet at a local park. You get great food, fresh air, and conversation without a restaurant bill.

2. Visit Your Local Library

Libraries have come a long way. Many offer free movies, museum passes, crafts, classes, and even board games to borrow. It’s like a community treasure chest waiting to be opened.

3. Go On a Free Tour

Check your city’s website for free factory tours, historic sites, or community gardens. Some breweries, farms, or local businesses offer behind-the-scenes tours that are surprisingly fun (and educational).

4. Try a Screen-Free Day

Pick one day to put away the phones, tablets, and TVs. Play board games, do puzzles, bake something together, or just talk. You’ll be surprised how much you connect when screens are off.

5. Explore the Great Outdoors

Hiking, biking, or even a walk around your neighborhood costs nothing and clears the mind. Bring a picnic lunch or snacks and make a day of it.

In Closing...

Fun doesn’t have to come with a price tag. The best memories often come from time spent, not money spent. Try one or two of these this weekend and see how rich “free” can really feel.
