Proof That You Can Have Too Much of a Good Thing

Guinness World Records

Seriously, I thought this would kill a person. But Nathan Crimp, a 22-year-old Englishman, decided to throw caution to the wind - and Guinness World Records - by visiting 67 pubs in a single 24-hour period. Yes, 67 pubs. In about 17 hours. That's more pubs than most people visit in a lifetime.

Crimp, joined by two friends who either love him or want proof for blackmail, set out to beat the record of 56 pubs, set earlier this year by Gareth Murphy in Cardiff, Wales. Murphy's feat took 10 hours. Crimp decided to go bigger. Because why not? Apparently.

"It was easily the hardest thing I've ever done," Crimp told local news. "I completely underestimated just how hard it was actually going to be." Translation: Nathan thought he was signing up for a fun pub crawl, not a pub marathon with the side effects of mild dehydration, extreme bladder distress, and questionable life choices.

"The plan was to try and keep it sober for the first 25 pubs, but that went out the window at about pub number 15. I had to mix it up a little bit," he admitted. "I'd have alcohol in one, a soft drink in the next - trying to space it out." Basically, Nathan invented the drinking equivalent of interval training.

Guinness rules required him to have a drink at each pub, plus collect receipts and witness signatures. Somehow, this wasn't the most exhausting part. "The hardest part was constantly having to go to the toilet," Nathan said. "That took up the majority of the time."

So there you have it - a man who broke a world record, pushed human limits, and probably has a bladder petition in progress. Nathan Crimp didn't just visit pubs; he turned pub-hopping into an endurance sport. And for those wondering: yes, there is probably a medal for this. It's called "Most Likely to Regret It Tomorrow."
