Trump Defends Health Amid Calls for Medical Records Release
More than 230 healthcare professionals, many of whom support Vice President Kamala Harris, are calling on former President Donald Trump to release his medical records. Their open letter, published after Harris shared her own health report, criticizes Trump for not doing the same.
The letter contrasts Harris' transparency with Trump's approach, saying, "Vice President Kamala Harris has released a credible, transparent update on her health and medical history, and Donald Trump has not." Trump, who turned 78 in June, is under scrutiny by these doctors due to his age, with claims that he shows cognitive changes during rallies. However, Trump's strong rally performances have resonated with many of his supporters, as he critiques the current administration's handling of immigration, inflation, and global issues.
In response, Trump's campaign defended his health record, with Communications Director Steven Cheung stating, "Trump has voluntarily released updates from his personal physician, as well as detailed reports from Dr. Ronny Jackson, who treated him after the first assassination attempt." According to Jackson, Trump underwent a thorough evaluation in July following an assassination attempt, including a head CT, and was reported to be in "perfect and excellent health."
Trump has consistently maintained that his health is robust, backed by a doctor's assessment in November, which declared his overall health as "excellent" and his cognitive abilities as "exceptional."
While Harris' recent two-page medical report described her as a healthy 59-year-old woman with seasonal allergies, Trump's team pointed out that his daily rigorous campaign schedule proves his stamina and fitness to lead. Cheung emphasized, "He has maintained an extremely busy and active campaign schedule unlike any other in political history, whereas Kamala Harris has been unable to keep up with the demands of campaigning."
Trump has also dismissed the need for further debates, citing a media bias against him. His campaign remains confident that his energy, strength, and relentless campaigning demonstrate his readiness for a second term.
