A pest control technician investigating an insect problem at a California home made a startling discovery: About 700 pounds of acorns had been stashed inside the house's wall by woodpeckers.

Nick Castro of Nick's Extreme Pest Control said he expected to find a dead animal inside the wall of a Glen Ellen home where residents reported seeing maggots and mealworms emerging from a wall.

Castro cut a small hole in the wall of the second-floor bedroom and was shocked when acorns started pouring from the opening.

Castro and his colleagues discovered the acorns were piled about 20 feet high inside the wall. He estimated about 700 pounds of acorns were removed.

The technician said he investigated outside the home and discovered woodpeckers had been poking holes in the chimney stack and had been stashing acorns in the openings for the past two to five years. He said the acorns eventually fell through into the wall cavity.

Castro said it took about eight hours to remove the acorns. He said he repaired the damage to the home's exterior and added screens to protect the wood from the birds.

Han Solo's blaster from the original Star Wars trilogy became the most expensive prop gun sold at auction when it fetched a price of $1,057,500. The blaster, known officially in Star Wars lore as a BlasTech DL-44 Heavy Blaster, was one of three wielded by actor Harrison Ford during the filming of 1977's Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Illinois-based Rock Island Auctions said the blaster is the only one of the three to survive to the modern day. The prop was modeled after a German-made Mauser C96, dating to World War I, and utilized parts from a World War II-era MG81 machine gun, as well as an early 20th-century Hensoldt-Wetzlar rifle scope. Guinness World Records confirmed the price earned the blaster the title of the most expensive prop gun sold at auction.

Monkey See, Monkey Fight

An Ohio shopper captured video of an escaped monkey scuffling with a Walmart employee before being reclaimed by an owner in the store's parking lot. A video posted to Facebook shows the monkey struggling with a Walmart employee by the cart return station in the Lancaster store's parking lot. A woman, apparently the monkey's owner, runs up and pulls the two apart. "Let him go, let him go, let him go! If he bites you, they will put him down," the woman says. The woman and monkey then return to a nearby camper, which the primate apparently escaped from earlier. A Walmart representative said the monkey did not bite the employee and the woman was "grateful" to the worker for catching her unusual pet. The Ohio Department of Agriculture said it is working to identify the woman to determine whether she is an Ohio resident and, if so, whether her monkey is properly registered.
