Good Morning,

Gadgets2020It turns out there are some household items you definitely own that'll get the job done if you don't own any dumbbells. Always remember that your body is its own gym. You have body weight and there are literally endless exercises that can be done with no equipment.

However, if you do want to enhance your workout with some dumbbell-esque equipment, I have some suggestions...

Regards,
Steve

*-- Household Items that Replace Dumbbells --*

One Pound (16 ounces) - Cans of veggies or fruit will do just fine! Just make sure the label reads 16 ounces if you're looking for a one-pound item. The benefit of the can is that it's equally weighted similarly to how a dumbbell is, whereas bottles are not. In other words, cans are as close as you can get to the feel of actual dumbbells.

Two Pounds (32 ounces) - A half gallon of milk is going to do the trick for this one. As long as the carton reads 32 ounces, that's a pretty solid 2 lb weight to works with. They are also ideal for curls and presses!

Three Pounds (48 ounces) - Bags of uncooked rice will be your go-to for this one. Wondering what you can do with a bag of rice? Well it's mainly to be held at your side while you do back lunges but you can hold it above your head as well.

Four Pounds (64 ounces) - One full gallon of milk...pretty self explanatory.

Five Pounds (80 ounces) - Use this to squat. Hold a bag of flour at chest level with both hands and bend your knees to lower your body until your thighs are parallel to the ground. Start to lift your body back up and squeeze your glutes. One rep down...keep going!
