Stephen King to release crime novel 'Later' in March 2021

Prolific author Stephen King will release a new crime novel in March 2021.

The 72-year-old writer shared the cover for his forthcoming book, Later, Monday on Twitter.

The cover features a 40s/50s-style illustration of a boy and a woman posing with a car. The cover features the tagline "Only the dead have no secrets."

"Next year. March," King captioned the post.

Later will be released March 2. The book is about "the secrets we keep buried and the cost of unearthing them," according to an official synopsis on Amazon.

Later centers on Jamie Conklin, the son of a struggling single mother. Jamie was born with an "unnatural ability" that allows him to "see what no one else can see and learn what no one else can learn."

Jamie is called upon to use his ability by an NYPD detective searching for a killer "who has threatened to strike from beyond the grave." Using his ability, however, has a cost "higher than Jamie can imagine."

King most recently released If It Bleeds, a book of novellas, in April. His most recent novel, The Institute, was published in September 2019.

King discussed some of his famous characters on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in May, saying he would least like to be quarantined with Misery's Annie Wilkes and The Shining's Jack Torrence amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

'The Young and the Restless' to return with new episodes Aug. 10

New episodes of The Young and the Restless will begin airing next week.

CBS announced in a press release Monday that the long-running soap opera will return to television Aug. 10.

The series picks up with Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki's (Melody Thomas Scott) family being threatened by a secret, Billy (Jason Thompson) and Lily (Christel Khalil) navigating their new partnership as a scandal brews, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Abby's (Melissa Ordway) rivalry heating up, and Sharon's (Sharon Case) family supporting her amid her cancer battle.

The Aug. 10 episode will center on Lily (Khalil) and Billy (Thompson) as they interview Genoa City residents while celebrating the anniversary of Katherine's dedication at Chancellor Park.

In the Aug. 11 episode, Sharon (Case) struggles with her new normal following her surgery. Billy (Thompson) and Lily (Khalil) disagree at work, and Phyllis (Stafford) has an issue with Abby (Ordway). The episode was filmed prior to the COVID-19 production shutdown.

The Aug. 12 episode will show Victor (Braeden) and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) put their differences aside to help Adam (Mark Grossman). Summer (Hunter King) shares her feelings about Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Phyllis' (Stafford) reunion, and Amanda (Mishael Morgan) slows down her romance with Nate (Sean Dominic).

In the Aug. 13 episode, Jack (Peter Bergman) strikes a nerve with Victor (Braeden) while giving parenting advice. Adam (Grossman) searches for clues to prove he didn't commit an old crime, while Esther (Kate Linder) helps Kevin (Greg Rikaart) prepare for fatherhood.

The Aug. 14 episode will show Devon (Bryton James) bond with Amanda (Morgan), Nikki's (Scott) attempt to keep the peace in the Newman family backfire, and Jack (Bergman) and Ashley (Eileen Davidson) being reminded of their family's past.

The Young and the Restless resumed filming in mid-July after shutting down production in March due to the pandemic. Fellow CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful began airing new episodes in July.

Which TV personality 'expected' her 'GMA' talk show to be canceled?

Keke Palmer says she "expected" her Good Morning America talk show to be canceled.

The 26-year-old actress, singer and television personality said on Sunday's episode of Watch What Happens Live that she wasn't surprised when Strahan, Sara & Keke, aka GMA3, was canceled amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

"When the pandemic hit, that's what became all on our minds was the pandemic, corona, understanding COVID. So I kinda knew that if our show did come back it would have to be much, much, much later, because our show is really about an audience," Palmer said.

"We do a little bit of news but it's entertainment news. It's really fun, conversations and lighthearted," she added of the show. "We're in a different time now, so some of the conversation has changed and I think just that kind of pushed SSK out. So I expected it."

Strahan, Sara & Keke was co-hosted by Palmer, Michael Strahan and Sara Haines and premiered on ABC in September 2018. The series was replaced with Pandemic: What You Need to Know, a daily COVID-19 report, in March, and later morphed into GMA3.

Page Six reported in early July that Strahan, Sara & Keke was canceled.

"We're proud of our teams at SSK and GMA3 and how quickly they transitioned to producing a daily show to give people the news and information they need during an unprecedented pandemic, and conversations continue about how the show will evolve in the months ahead," an ABC rep said at the time.

On WWHL, Palmer also discussed her speech to members of the National Guard at a Black Lives Matter protest in June. She encouraged the National Guard to "march with us" and said kneeling in solidarity was "not enough."

"It's not always enough to play it safe," Palmer said on WWHL.
