Tiger Woods docuseries coming to HBO in December
A new docuseries about professional golfer Tiger Woods is coming to HBO in December.
The network announced in a press release Thursday that Tiger, a two-part series about Woods, will premiere Dec. 13. Part two will air Dec. 20.
Tiger is produced by HBO Sports and Jigsaw Productions. The series follows "the rise, fall, and epic comeback" of Woods, 44, who won his first major in 11 years at the 2019 Masters Tournament.
The series is directed by Matthew Heineman (Cartel Land) and Matthew Hamachek (Amanda Knox). Alex Gibney will executive produce with Sam Pollard, Stacey Offman, Richard Perello, Armen Keteyian and Jeff Benedict.
Tiger is based on Keteyian and Benedict's book Tiger Woods. The series features never-before-seen footage and new interviews, including with Woods' former caddy, Steve Williams, golf legend Nick Faldo, Woods' ex-partner Dina Parr, and Rachel Uchitel, one of Woods' alleged former mistresses.
"Few global icons are more visible and less understand than Tiger Woods," HBO Sports EVP Peter Nelson said. "His prodigy came with painstaking sacrifice; his perfected athleticism immobilized him in agony before the age of 40; his self-made fame enabled a self-destructive world of secrecy; and his redemptive reemergence posed as many questions as it answered -- not only about one of the greatest sportsmen ever to live, but also the greater American society that engulfed him."
Heineman and Hamachek said their goal with the docuseries was "to dive deeper and create an unflinching and intimate portrait of a man, who like all of us, is imperfect and inherently human."
Tiger will air on HBO and stream on HBO Max.
Woods will compete at the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio, next week, his first PGA Tour tournament since the season was suspended due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
He will also appear in a virtual version of the British Open, titled The Open for the Ages, that will air July 16 to 19. The special imagines a battle between Woods and Jack Nicklaus in their prime.
Lady A sues blues singer Anita 'Lady A' White over name
Country music band Lady A, formerly known as Lady Antebellum, has filed a lawsuit against black blues singer Anita White who has performed under Lady A throughout her career.
Lady A, which consists of white performers Hillary Scott, Charles Kelly and Dave Haywood, changed their name from Lady Antebellum in June due to the word antebellum's association with slavery and the pre-Civil War South.
"Today we are sad to share that our sincere hope to join together with Anita White in unity and common purpose has ended," the group said in a statement to CBS News.
"She and her team have demanded a $10 million payment, so reluctantly we have come to the conclusion that we need to ask a court to affirm our rights to continue to use the name Lady A, a trademark we have held for many years," they continued.
The lawsuit states that Lady A is not seeking monetary damages and that Lady A became an official trademark for the band in 2011 with no one filing in opposition.
White, on Instagram in June, posted a photo of herself speaking with Lady A via webcam.
"Today, we connected privately with the artist Lady. Transparent, honest and authentic conversations were had. We are excited to share we are moving forward with positive solutions and common ground. The hurt is turning into hope. More to come," White captioned the image at the time.
Lady A had also made a similar announcement on Twitter using the same wording.
White, while speaking with Newsday in June, said that the announced agreement between herself and the band was premature.
"I received a draft agreement from the Antebellum camp," the singer told the publication.
"I'm not happy about [it] yet again after talking in good faith. Their camp is trying to erase me and I'll have more to say tomorrow. Trust is important and I no longer trust them," she continued.

'The Crown' to have sixth and final season on Netflix
Historical drama series The Crown will have a sixth and final season on Netflix.
The streaming service announced Thursday that it renewed the series for Season 6.
"News from the palace: we can confirm there will be a sixth (and final) season of @TheCrownNetflix, in addition to the previously announced five!" the company tweeted.
The Crown was originally to have a six-season run. In January, series creator Peter Morgan said the show would end after Season 5.
Morgan said Thursday that he reconsidered his decision in order to do the show "justice."
"As we started to discuss the storylines for Series 5, it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness of the story we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons," he said.
The Crown follows the reign of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II throughout the decades. Claire Foy played the queen in Seasons 1 and 2, while Olivia Colman portrays the monarch in Seasons 3 and 4. Imelda Staunton will play the queen in Season 5.
Netflix released Season 3 of The Crown in November. The streaming service has yet to announce a premiere date for Season 4, which had largely finished filming before production was shut down due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Tobias Menzies, who plays Prince Philip in Seasons 3 and 4, said in an interview with Deadline in June that Prince Charles (Josh O'Connor) and Princess Diana (Emma Corrin) will be a "big part" of Season 4.
"In a way, the kids start to come into the foreground," the actor said. "Charles comes into the foreground. Diana is a big part of Season 4."
Netflix cancels 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina'
Netflix has canceled Chilling Adventures of Sabrina with the supernatural series set to end with a fourth season known as Part 4, later this year.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, from showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, is based on the Archie comic series of the same name.
Kiernan Shipka, Gavin Leatherwood, Ross Lynch, Jaz Sinclair, Lachlan Watson, Sam Corlett, Lucy Davis, Chance Perdomo, Michelle Gomez, Tati Gabrielle, Adeline Rudolph, Richard Coyle and Miranda Otto starred.
The series was originally developed for The CW as a spinoff to Riverdale before it moved to Netflix. The first season arrived in October 2018.
Part 3 premiered on Netflix in January. The latest season followed teenage witch Sabrina (Shipka) as she became the queen of hell in an attempt to save her boyfriend Nick (Leatherwood).
"Working on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has been an incredible honor from day one. The cast, beginning with Kiernan as everyone's favorite teen witch, has been an absolute joy. I am beyond thankful to the crew, writers, editors, assistants, and everyone for pouring so much love into this dark dream of a show," Aguirre-Sacasa said in a statement.
"I'm also grateful to our partners at Netflix, Warner Bros., Berlanti Television and Archie Comics for letting us tell the story we wanted to tell, the way we wanted to tell it. We can't wait for everyone to see part four," he continued.

Which actress has landed the lead in 'Batwoman' Season 2?
God Friended Me and The Family Business alum Javicia Leslie will play the titular heroine in Batwoman when the show returns to The CW for Season 2 in January.
The cable TV network, Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions made the announcement Wednesday.
"I am extremely proud to be the first Black actress to play the iconic role of Batwoman on television, and as a bisexual woman, I am honored to join this groundbreaking show which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community," Leslie said in a statement.
Leslie will play Ryan Wilder, who takes over the persona of Gotham crime-fighter Batwoman from Kate Kane, played by Ruby Rose in Season 1 of the DC Comics adaptation.
"She's likable, messy, a little goofy and untamed," a description of Wilder said.
"With no one in her life to keep her on track, Ryan spent years as a drug-runner, dodging the GCPD and masking her pain with bad habits. Today, Ryan lives in her van with her plant. A girl who would steal milk for an alley cat and could also kill you with her bare hands, Ryan is the most dangerous type of fighter: highly skilled and wildly undisciplined. An out lesbian. Athletic. Raw. Passionate. Fallible. And very much not your stereotypical all-American hero."
Rose announced in May that she would not return for a second season of the action-drama.
"This was not a decision I made lightly as I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew and everyone involved with the show in both Vancouver and in Los Angeles," she said at the time.
"I am beyond appreciative to Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Caroline Dries for not only giving me this incredible opportunity, but for welcoming me into the DC universe they have so beautifully created. Thank you Peter Roth and Mark Pedowitz and the teams at Warner Bros. and The CW who put so much into the show and always believed in me. Thank you to everyone who made Season 1 a success -- I am truly grateful."
