Here's the Scoop...

Well, what do you think about this? Brendan Gleeson and Jeff Daniels have joined the cast of a new CBS Studios miniseries.

CBS Studios announced Monday on Twitter that Gleeson, 64, will play President Donald Trump in the new project, with Daniels, 64, as former FBI director James Comey.

The TV event miniseries is based on Comey's book, A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership, published in April 2018. The book explores Comey's relationship with Trump and his dismissal from his FBI position in 2017.

"Multiple #Emmy Award-winner @JeffDaniels will star as former FBI Director James Comey in a new four-hour #CBSTVStudios event miniseries based on Comey's @NYTimes #1 bestselling book," CBS Studios wrote.

"#Emmy Award-winner Brendan Gleeson will join @JeffDaniels," the studio added. "He will play the role of President Donald Trump."

Captain Phillips writer Billy Ray will adapt A Higher Loyalty and direct the miniseries, with Alex Kurzman, Shane Salerno and Heather Kadin as executive producers.

"It's hard to imagine a bigger acting challenge than playing Donald Trump," Ray said in a statement. "You have to have presence, and a singular kind of dynamism. You also have to have the courage and the will to play Trump's psychology from the inside out. Oh, and you have to be spectacularly talented and watchable. Not many actors check all those boxes. Brendan does. I'm ecstatic about this."

Ray also had praise for Daniels.

"Jeff is so perfect for this part. Great actor, instant integrity, loads of warmth, intelligence, complexity and gravitas," he said.

CBS executives have yet to decide on a premiere date and whether the miniseries will air on Showtime, CBS All Access or both. Production begins next month.

Be Well,
Steve

Lamar Odom gets the boot on 'Dancing with the Stars'

NBA icon Lamar Odom became the fourth celebrity to leave Season 28 of Dancing with the Stars in Los Angeles on Monday night.

"I'm lucky to be walking and talking, so this is just another hill to climb," Odom said, referring to how he suffered several heart attacks, strokes and kidney failure after a drug overdose in 2015.

Pro football player Ray Lewis dropped out of DWTS last week due to an injury and The Supremes singer Mary Wilson previously was eliminated from the contest because of too few votes from the viewers and low scores from the judges.

Model Christie Brinkley broke her arm during rehearsals and was replaced by her daughter Sailor Brinkley-Cook before the show premiered.

Still in the running for the coveted mirror-ball trophy are Brinkley-Cook; Queer Eye star Karamo Brown; The Bachelorette alum Hannah Brown; country music singer Lauren Alaina; actor James Van Der Beek; The Office alum Kate Flannery; singer Ally Brooke; actor Kel Mitchell; and former White House press secretary Sean Spicer.

Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews are the show's hosts. Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli are its judges.

Ellen DeGeneres urges kindness after George W. Bush backlash

Ellen DeGeneres is promoting kindness following backlash to her outing with former president George W. Bush.

The 61-year-old television personality spoke out on her show Tuesday after attending a Dallas Cowboys football game with Bush on Sunday.

DeGeneres explained how Charlotte Jones, the daughter of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, invited her and her wife, actress Portia de Rossi, to the game. She was seated next to Bush and his wife, former first lady Laura Bush, in the Joneses' private suite.

"During the game, they showed a shot of George and me laughing together," DeGeneres said. "People were upset. They thought, 'Why is a gay Hollywood liberal sitting next to a conservative Republican president?'"

DeGeneres faced heavy backlash online, but shared one tweet that read, "Ellen and George Bush together makes me have faith in America again." She urged people to be kind to "everyone," in spite of differences.

"Here's the thing: I'm friends with George Bush. In fact, I'm friends with a lot of people who don't share the same beliefs that I have," DeGeneres said. "We're all different, and I think that we've forgotten that that's okay that we're all different."

"Just because I don't agree with someone on everything doesn't mean that I'm not going to be friends with them," she added. "When I say be kind to one another, I don't mean only the people that think the same way that you do. I mean be kind to everyone."

DeGeneres also shared her response on Twitter.

"Yes, that was me at the Cowboys game with George W. Bush over the weekend. Here's the whole story," she wrote.

Bush appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show for the first time in March 2017.

"Marc was like, 'I'll do anything.' And I was like, 'Okay, then do everything. Because I have done it all, all by myself, and I'm done, dude.' I was fully out the door. ... [Now] Marc literally spends so much time with the girls that they accidentally call me 'Dad' sometimes."
