Heavy metal band Metallica canceled its planned tour of Australia and New Zealand so vocalist/guitarist James Hetfield can address his addiction issues in rehab.

"We are truly sorry to inform our fans and friends that we must postpone our upcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand," the musicians tweeted Friday.

"As most of you probably know, our brother James has been struggling with addiction on and off for many years. He has now, unfortunately, had to re-enter a treatment program to work on his recovery again," the message continued.

"We fully intend to make our way to your part of the world as soon as health and schedule permit. We'll let you know as soon as we can," they added.

The group also was announced Friday as part of the lineup for the 2020 Global Goal Live music event next September, which will celebrate people working to eradicate poverty around the world.

Sony and Marvel forge new 'Spider-Man' movie deal

Sony Pictures and Disney's Marvel Studios has come to terms on a new Spider-Man movie deal after the two sides parted ways in August.

The new deal will have Marvel Studios and its president Kevin Feige produce the third film in Sony's latest Spider-Man trilogy starring Tom Holland in the title role.

The third film is set to be released in theaters on July 16, 2021. The trilogy started with 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming and continued with Spider-Man: Far From Home which hit theaters in July.

Spider-Man will also be allowed to appear in one future Marvel Studios film, Variety reported. Holland's wall-crawler has previously appeared in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, 2018's Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame which was released in April.

"I am thrilled that Spidey's journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it," Feige said in a statement.

"Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpowers to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold," he continued.

Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man on film. The first deal between Sony and Marvel started with Captain America: Civil War, allowing the character to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The two sides were unable to reach a new agreement in August with Sony stating that it was "disappointed" that the partnership was over.

LOOSE LIPS:

"There's a part of me that definitely is always going to be different. I needed to grow up in many ways. I needed to make boundaries, to figure out what was mine and what was the public's. That old version of me that shares unfailingly and unblinkingly with a world that is probably not fit to be shared with? I think that's gone."

'Prince of romantic song' Jose Jose dies at 71

Jose Jose, a Spanish-language singer, songwriter and actor for more than a half century, has died, the Mexican Ministry of Culture said Saturday. He was 71.

Jose had been battling pancreatic cancer and he died in Miami, Telemundo reported.

"From the Ministry of Culture we are sorry for the passing of singer Jose Romulo Sosa, better known as José José of the prince of the song. Since the beginning of his career, the singer of El Triste became one of most beloved voices in Mexico. Rest in Peace," the ministry posted on Twitter on Saturday.

In June, he posted on Twitter that he was undergoing therapy and thanked his fans for their support.

His best-known romantic ballads were La Nave del Olvido, 40 y 20, Gavilán o Paloma and El Triste. He sold about 85 million records.

Jose was born in Mexico City. His father, Jose Sosa Esquivel, was a tenor for the Mexico National Opera and his mother, Margarita Ortiz Pensado, was a professional pianist.

His father, who died when he was 17, didn't allow popular music to be played in his house.

Originally, he sang jazz and bossa nova but switched to ballads in 1970 when he sang El Triste at the Festival de la Canción Latina.

The first "José" was for his first name and the second in honor of his father.

Mexico's President Andrés Manuel López Obrador described him as an "extraordinary singer,"

"With his songs and his romanticism he made many of my generation cry and be happy," the president told reporters.

Karate Kid and Cobra Kai castmate Rob Garrison has died at the age of 59, his family said.

Garrison died Friday morning. He had been hospitalized with kidney and liver ailments for more than a month, TMZ reported.

"My brother was a fun-loving guy. He enjoyed people and he enjoyed life. He liked to have fun and make people laugh up until the very end. He will definitely be missed," the actor's brother, Patrick, told the website.

Garrison's co-star, Ralph Macchio, mourned the actor in a tweet after news of Garrison's death broke.

"Rob Garrison was a kind gentleman from the 1st day I met him to the last day we spoke. I am so glad he had the opportunity to show his range & genuine heart w/his performance last season on Cobra Kai. His campfire scene was of my favs of Season 2. RIP my friend. U will b missed," Macchio said

Garrison played Tommy, a martial-arts rival of Macchio's Daniel in 1984's The Karate Kid and 1986's The Karate Kid Part II. He reprised the role in Season 2 of the Karate Kid sequel series, Cobrai Kai, earlier this year.

"Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments on my appearance in COBRA KAI. Makes me feel great. Had a wonderful time doing it," Garrison tweeted in April.

His other credits include MacGyver, Columbo and Coach.

Which model/actress recalls losing 'The View' co-hosting job to Jenny McCarthy?

Brooke Shields is reliving the time she lost a co-host position on The View to Jenny McCarthy.

The 54-year-old actress and model confirmed during Thursday's episode of Watch What Happens Live that she was in the running to replace Elisabeth Hasselback on The View in 2013.

Shields said she was on The View set for a week before McCarthy was given the position.

"I went through a week of being on the show and did all my homework," the star recalled. "I take everything very seriously."

"I was directing Chicago at the Hollywood Bowl. I'm in the parking lot and I get a call from the producer. He says, 'We've decided to go with Jenny McCarthy.' I was like, 'Okay,'" she said. "She's a friend, but I think you want one or the other. I think they were going for something different."

The View co-creator Bill Geddie said in a Vulture interview with McCarthy published in March that market research showed viewers found Shields too stiff.

"I liked her," Geddie said of Shields. "For some reason, our audience never warmed to her."

Comedian and In Living Color alum Ali Wentworth was also considered as a replacement for Hasselbeck.

On Watch What Happens Live, Shields denied she was offered the role of Catwoman in Batman Returns, played by Michelle Pfeiffer.

Shields recently portrayed River Fields in Seasons 4 and 5 of Jane the Virgin. She will star with Jason Alexander in the new film My Boyfriend's Meds.
