Tulsi Gabbard: Trump's Saudi Arabia troop deployment could 'lead us to an all-out inferno of a war'

Tulsi Gabbard warned that President Trump's newly announced deployment of troops and weapons to Saudi Arabia threatens instability in the region and could lead to a major war with Iran.
"This is the wrong decision that is more catering towards the interests of Saudi Arabia than it is to the interests of the United States of America and the American people," Gabbard, a Democratic presidential candidate and Hawaii congresswoman, told the Washington Examiner on Saturday.
"Trump's response is just another volley in this cycle of retaliation that we've already seen happening that led us to this point, and that will only continue, and that will lead us to an all-out inferno of a war in not only Iran, but across the region," she said.
The Pentagon announced Friday evening that President Trump will send "defensive" troops and missiles to Saudi Arabia following what is suspected to be an Iranian attack on a Saudi oil facility. The official number of troops going to Saudi Arabia has not been announced, but it will likely be in the hundreds.
Earlier this week, Gabbard, an Iraq veteran who remains a major in the Hawaii Army National Guard, compared Trump to a "pimp."
"My fellow service members and I, we are not your prostitutes. You are not our pimp," she said in a video posted to Twitter.
Gabbard also called to reenter the Iran nuclear deal after Trump withdrew the United States from the deal last year.
"Every single day that Trump goes without reentering the Iran nuclear agreement is another day closer to Iran developing a nuclear weapon," Gabbard said. "Trump's strategy is failing. It's leading us in the wrong direction and towards a very dangerous one. If I were president now, what I would do is get back in the Iran nuclear agreement, take away those crippling economic sanctions, and then separately work out the differences that we have with Iran."
