Judith Light receives star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Judith Light received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame during a ceremony attended by her husband, Robert Desiderio, former Ugly Betty co-star America Ferrera and Transparent creator Jill Soloway.

The event took place on Thursday in Los Angeles with Light, 70, being honored with the 2,673rd star. The actress, who has enjoyed a successful career in television, received the star due to her stage work.

Broadway producer Daryl Roth, her Transparent co-stars Amy Landecker, Kathryn Hahn, Jay Duplass and Gaby Hoffman and her former Ugly Betty co-star Ana Ortiz, were also in attendance.

"The fact is, if you were not in my life, the dream of this little girl sitting alone in her room in Trenton, N.J., reading plays and acting out Shakespeare passages, would never have come to pass," Light, who donned a bright pink suit, said during her speech.

"All of you have made and are continuing to make the powerful difference in my life and the lives of so many others."

Light is a two-time Tony winner who won Best Featured Actress in a Play in 2012 for her role in Other Desert Cities and in 2013 for her role in The Assembled Parties. She was nominated for a Tony in 2011 for starring in Lombardi and received the Isabelle Stevenson award at the awards show in June for her contribution to charitable causes.

On television, Light got her start and two Daytime Emmys for starring as Karen Wolek on soap opera One Life to Live. She also starred as Angela Bower on Who's the Boss, as Claire Meade on Ugly Betty and as Shelly Pfefferman on Transparent.

Light portrayed Marilyn Miglin on Ryan Murphy's The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story which earned her an Emmy nomination. She will next be seen in Murphy's Netflix series The Politician.

Jennifer Garner says she's a 'lame' mom: 'I kill the fun'

Jennifer Garner says one of her daughters refers to her as the "fun-killing mom."

The 47-year-old actress discussed raising Violet, 13, Seraphina, 10, and Samuel, 7, her children with ex-husband Ben Affleck, during Thursday's episode of The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.

"I kill the fun. I am so lame, I say no to everything. They call me 'the dragon,' they have all these names for me," Garner told host Jimmy Kimmel.

Kimmel showed a handwritten note from one of Garner's daughters that Garner posted on Instagram in November that read, "When I grow up, I want to be a fun-killing mom, just like you!"

Garner will star in a Netflix adaptation of the Amy Krause Rosenthal book Yes Day!, which centers on one day of the year where parents say "yes" to all of their children's wishes. Garner said she doe Yes Day with her kids, although all three children have to agree on their activities.

"On one day a year, I just say yes. 'We want pizza with ice cream for breakfast, or with toothpaste, or we want...'" Garner said. "I do it. I have for years."

"Having three kids, they have different ideas. A 13-year-old old and 7-year-old have a different idea of what they'd like to get out of Yes Day," she added.

Garner said on Wednesday's episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show that she enjoys playing games, including One Night Ultimate Werewolf and Code Names, with her kids. She and Clarkson relived their win on Hollywood Game Night in August.

"In the '90s, all that attention really threw me. It was really uncomfortable for me, the cacophony of expectations and judgments. I really became a bit of a hermit and just bonged myself into oblivion."

Which True Blood alum has been cat to play Randall Flagg in 'The Stand' remake?

Big Little Lies and True Blood alum Alexander Skarsgård has signed on to play villain Randall Flagg in The Stand, CBS All Access' adaptation of Stephen King's book.

"Also known as 'the Dark Man,' his unsettling and ever-changing presence is the embodiment of pure evil. Like Mother Abagail [Whoopi Goldberg], Flagg appears in plague survivors' dreams but, unlike her divine messaging, his ultimate goal is far more sinister," a press release said.

The Stand will also feature the previously announced James Marsden, Amber Heard, Odessa Young, Jovan Adepo, Owen Teague, Henry Zaga and Brad William Henke. It is described as King's "apocalyptic vision of a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil."

Principal photography began Friday in Vancouver.

There has been tremendous interest lately in King's horror properties.

Skarsgard's brother Bill recently headlined three projects based on the works of King. He played Pennywise the murderous clown in the blockbuster films IT and IT Chapter Two, and The Kid in Season 1 of Hulu's anthology series, Castle Rock.

Writer-producers David E. Kelley and Jack Bender announced this week that they are making a limited series out of King's latest novel, The Institute, and Doctor Sleep, the big-screen sequel to The Shining, is set for theatrical release on Nov. 8.

Season 3 of Mr. Mercedes, which is another King adaptation, began this week on AT&T/DIRECTV's Audience channel.
