John Legend visits Dayton, performs for families of shooting victims

Ohio native John Legend visited Dayton, performing for families of victims and workers in the city's Oregon District a week after nine people were killed in a mass shooting.

Legend visited businesses in the entertainment district, discussed gun reform and met with Mayor Nan Whaley on Sunday.

"In light of last week's events, it is more important than ever for us to come together to support our local communities," Legend said on Twitter alongside photos of himself speaking with store owners.

Workers told CNN that Legend's visit was therapeutic.

"I just played a few songs to try to help bring comfort to some of the survivors of last week's tragedy in Dayton. My heart breaks for everyone who lost someone," Legend said on Instagram alongside a photo of his performance.

"I love how everyone rallies around one another during their time of grief. But our nation should not keep putting ourselves through these preventable traumas. Let's fix it together," he wrote.

Besides the nine deaths, at least 31 people were injured in the Aug. 4 shooting. The gunman, identified as 24-year-old Connor Betts, was shot dead by police. His sister, 22-year-old Megan, was among the victims.

Lady Gaga announced Friday that she will fund 162 classrooms across locations recently affected by mass shootings -- 125 classrooms in El Paso, Texas; 14 in Dayton; and 23 Gilroy, Calif.

"My heart goes out to those who were taken from us too soon and to their families, loved ones, and communities who are left to grieve," Gaga said on Facebook. "Everyone has the right to laws that make them feel safe in their communities. In this moment, I want to channel my confusion, frustration and fury into hope. Hope that we are there for each other and for ourselves."

Twenty-two people were killed Aug. 3 at an El Paso Walmart. Three people were killed and several others were injured in a shooting at a garlic festival July 28 in Gilroy.

Popular historical drama The Crown will release its third season on Nov. 17.

Netflix announced the date and published a teaser for the new season Monday on Twitter.

The promo gives fans a glimpse of Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II. Colman is taking over the role from Claire Foy, who portrayed a younger Elizabeth in the first two seasons.

Season 3 will co-star Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip, Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret and Ben Daniels as Lord Snowdon. The season begins in 1964 and will cover such events as the rise of the Beatles and England winning the 1966 World Cup.

In addition, Colman told Vanity Fair in November that Elizabeth's relationship with Margaret has improved in the new season.

"They have come to blows, but they're sort of the only ones who know each other that well and the only ones that each other can really trust," the actress said.

The Crown follows Elizabeth's reign throughout the decades. Season 4 will feature Emma Corrin as Princess Diana, with Gillian Anderson to reportedly portray Margaret Thatcher.

"Raise your hand if you've heard of the drink called the Rusty Nail. A Rusty Nail is scotch and Drambuie. The first sip tastes like your grandmother's underpants but after the second sip, you're ordering two more. Next thing you're in the emergency room getting tetanus shot because you end up shooting yourself in the foot with a rusty nail gun. That's a Rusty Nail."

Which 'Pitch Perfect' star would be down for another sequel?

Pitch Perfect star Anna Camp is open to making a new sequel.

The 36-year-old actress discussed the possibility of a fourth film with Entertainment Tonight while attending the Television Critics Association press tour Thursday.

Camp plays Aubrey Posen in the Pitch Perfect movies, which co-star Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow and Rebel Wilson. The original film opened in theaters in 2012 and was followed by Pitch Perfect 2 (2015) and Pitch Perfect 3 (2017).

"I'm down," Camp said of a new sequel. "I love those girls and I love playing my character, so if they needed me I would be there, for sure."

Camp was promoting her new NBC series, Perfect Harmony, at the press tour. The show is a musical comedy co-starring Bradley Whitford and Will Greenberg, and will premiere Sept. 26.

"Had so much fun at the summer #tca1029 promoting @nbcperfectharmony!!!" Camp wrote Thursday on Instagram.

Wilson, who portrays Patricia "Fat Amy" Hobart in Pitch Perfect, previously teased a fourth movie in October. Adam DeVine, who played Bumper Allen in the first two films, said in June he's open to the idea.

"I could see like a Pitch Perfect wedding or something fun, if it makes sense. But I don't know. I kind of think it's done," the actor said.

In addition to Perfect Harmony, Camp will star in a number of films, including The Lovebirds with Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani and The Wedding Year with Sarah Hyland.
