Here's the Scoop...

It's good to be the king of the weekend box office!

The new photo-real animated movie The Lion King -- featuring the voices of Beyonce, Donald Glover, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Seth Rogen -- is the No. 1 movie in North America, earning $185 million in receipts this weekend, BoxOfficeMojo.com announced Sunday.

Coming in at No. 2 is Spider-Man: Far From Home with $21 million, followed by Toy Story 4 with $14.6 million at No. 3, Crawl with $6 million at No. 4 and Yesterday with $5.1 million at No. 5.

Rounding out the top tier are Stuber with $4 million at No. 6, Aladdin with $3.8 million at No. 7, Annabelle Comes Home with $2.7 million at No. 8, Midsommar with $1.6 million at No. 9 and The Secret Life of Pets 2 with $1.5 million at No. 10.

I didn't get a chance to see The Lion King, but I did take my son Jack, a die-hard Spider-Man fan, to see Spider-Man: Far From Home. It was tons of fun! We had a blast! And here's our Celebrity Nooz review: Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Be Well,
Steve

Which Beverly Hills, 90210 co-star will guest star on 'Riverdale' in honor of Luke Perry?

Katy Perry testifies in court for 'Dark Horse' copyright trial

Katy Perry took the stand on the first day of her copyright infringement trial for her song, "Dark Horse," featuring Juicy J.

Perry is being sued by Christian rapper Flame, real name Marcus Gray, who says "Dark Horse" uses the underlying beat from his song "Joyful Noise" featuring Lecrae.

The pop star, in her testimony on Thursday, said that herself and the song's creators, which include Dr. Luke, real name Lukasz Gottwald, Max Martin, Juicy J and Sarah Hudson, had never heard of "Joyful Noise" or of Gray before the lawsuit.

"I could perform it for you live," Perry said after her attorneys encountered technical difficulties with playing "Dark Horse" throughout the courtroom.

Gray's attorney Michael Khan, in his opening statement, said his clients need to only prove that access to "Joyful Noise" was possible by Perry and her team and that innocent infringement is enough to rule in their favor.

Da Truth, real name Emmanuel Lambert Jr., who co-wrote "Joyful Noise," also took the stand and said the track was a hit in the Christian music scene and was widely available on platforms such as YouTube.

Perry's attorney Christine Lepera said that there is no evidence that "Joyful Noise" was widely distributed and that her clients would have heard it due to the song's obscurity. She also argued that the underlying beat is too common and short to be copyright protected.

The trial will continue with testimony from Gray, his wife and manager Crystal Gray, Gottwald and Hudson.

Which Beverly Hills, 90210 co-star will guest star on 'Riverdale' in honor of Luke Perry?

Shannen Doherty is to honor her late Beverly Hills, 90210 co-star Luke Perry with a guest spot on the fourth season premiere of his most recent TV drama, Riverdale.

Riverdale executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa made the announcement at San Diego Comic Con on Sunday.

Aguirre-Sacasa said Doherty will appear on the episode scheduled to air on Oct. 9.

He did not offer details about the character she will play other than to say it will be a "special role."

"They were such good friends, and when we were putting together this tribute episode, we wanted to make it as special as possible, and so we asked Shannen to do a pivotal, super-emotional role. She read the script and immediately said 'yes.' It's very impactful," Aguirre-Sacasa said.

"I am deeply honored to pay tribute to Luke on Riverdale. The care in which this show takes in honoring his memory is beautiful. He is missed. Today. Tomorrow. Forever," Doherty wrote in an Instagram post.

Perry played Fred Andrews, the father of central character Archie Andrews (KJ Apa,) on Riverdale.

Perry died on March 4 after suffering a stroke. He was 52.

Riverdale is The CW's adaptation of the Archie Comics series. It co-stars Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Marisol Nichols, Madelaine Petsch, Mark Consuelos, Casey Cott, Charles Melton, Vanessa Morgan, Skeet Ulrich and Mädchen Amick.
