'Boy Meets World' alum Danielle Fishel gives birth to baby boy
Boy Meets World alum Danielle Fishel has given birth to her first child, a baby boy named Adler Lawrence alongside her husband Jensen Karp.
Fishel announced on Instagram Monday, that she gave birth to Adler a month early on June 24.
"Unfortunately, after doing an ultrasound, our amazing OB discovered fluid in his lungs that was not there during our last appointment only 10 days earlier - and thus we entered a nightmare we'll never forget," Fishel said alongside a photo of Adler's crib and one of Adler at the hospital.
"We still don't have Adler home with us because the deeply good doctors and nurses in the NICU are working diligently to find out why the fluid is there and determine the best way to get it out. This has been the most trying week and a half of mine and @jensenkarp's lives but we have gotten through it with the support of our incredible family and friends who have shown up for us in unexpected ways," she continued.
"Jensen and I have also become closer than we ever thought possible and the love between us has grown exponentially as we have leaned on each other during both our highest highs and our lowest lows," Fishel said.
Fishel, 38, and Karp, 39, announced in January that they were expecting their first child together. The couple, who first met in high school, tied the knot in November.
Fishel famously portrayed Topanga on Boy Meets World and reprised the role on Disney Channel's spinoff Girl Meets World which lasted for three seasons.
Neil Diamond biographical musical coming to Broadway
A biographical musical about best-selling singer-songwriter Neil Diamond is coming to Broadway.
Entertainment Weekly said producers Kevin Davenport and Bob Gaudio shared plans Monday for the as-yet-untitled production featuring Diamond's songs.
Michael Mayer, who won a Tony for Best Direction of a Musical for Spring Awakening, will direct the new musical, with Bohemian Rhapsody screenwriter Anthony McCarten to write the book.
"I've always loved Broadway," Diamond said in a statement. "The inspiration for many of my early songs came from shows like West Side Story, My Fair Lady, and Fiddler on the Roof, so it seems only fitting to bring my songs to The Great White Way. I'm honored and excited to be working with this great team."
The Hollywood Reporter said the production will recount Diamond's origins as a poor Jewish kid in Brooklyn and trace his five decades in music.
McCarten, also known for writing The Theory of Everything and Darkest Hour, is a longtime fan of Diamond.
"On the mantelpiece in my childhood home in New Zealand, there were always two pictures: one was of the Pope, the other of Neil Diamond. The epic musical catalogue of this Rock and Roll Hall of famer flowed endlessly off our family record player," he said. "Imagine my excitement, then, when the opportunity arose to work with Neil on a musical based on his life and music. A very, very easy and so sweet 'Yes!'"
Diamond, 78, is known for such hits as "Cracklin' Rosie," Song Sung Blue and "Sweet Caroline." He has sold more than 130 million records worldwide, and released 39 Top 40 singles.
LOOSE LIPS:
"You just get disheartened when you get people from a generational point of view going, 'It can't be.' And it really turns out to be the color of my skin. And then if I get it and it didn't work, or it did work, would it be because of the color of my skin? That's a difficult position to put myself into when I don't need to."

'Game of Thrones' alum Lena Headey lands lead in Showtime pilot 'Rita'
Game of Thrones actress Lena Headey is to play an unconventional teacher and single mom in the pilot of a new Showtime dramedy called Rita.
Headey will executive produce the first episode.
Creator/showrunner Christian Torpe is writing the pilot based on his Danish version of the series.
"Rita is a deliciously subversive character who will make you laugh and cry as she continuously challenges the hypocrisy around her," Jane Winograde, the network's president of entertainment, said in a statement. "It goes without saying that Lena Headey is a force, whose essence is ideal to take on this wonderfully dynamic lead role."
No other casting has been announced yet.
Headey also recently signed on to lend her voice to a puppet character in Netflix's upcoming fantasy drama, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.

Which singer/actress performed as her 'Black Mirror' character at Glastonbury?
Miley Cyrus performed as her 'Black Mirror' character at Glastonbury.
The 26-year-old singer and actress reprised Ashley O, her alter-ego in the Netflix series, at the musical festival Sunday in Somerset, England.
Metro said Cyrus performed the songs "On a Roll" and "Like a Hole" in her Ashley costume -- a purple wig and sequined outfit. Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker and his wife, Konnie Huq, were in the audience.
BBC Radio 1 shared a clip of Cyrus' performance Sunday on Twitter.
"Ashley O joined @MileyCyrus on stage at #Glastonbury2019, and we could not believe it!" the post reads.
Cyrus played Ashley O in the Black Mirror episode "Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too." The episode was one of three episodes in Season 5, which premiered on Netflix in June.
"I think it's an important story that needs to be told ... such a realistic take on what it's like working in the music industry," Cyrus said of her episode in an interview with The Guardian in June. "It really portrays the overt exploitation of artists and that numbers usually eclipse the creative most of the time."
Cyrus last released the EP She is Coming in May. The EP is the first of three parts for her seventh studio album, She is Miley Cyrus.
