Here's the Scoop...

Are you ready for the Emmy nominations? They're getting announced in just under a month.

Comedian Ken Jeong and The Good Place star D'Arcy Carden have been selected by the Television Academy to announce the nominations for the 71st annual Primetime Emmy Awards on July 16.

Jeong and D'Arcy will be announcing the nominees at 8:30 p.m. PT from the Wolf Theatre located at the Television Academy's Saban Media Center in Hollywood.

The nominations ceremony will be livestreamed on Emmys.com and broadcast live on multiple television channels. Television Academy Chairman and CEO Frank Scherma will also join Jeong and D'Arcy.

The Emmy Awards, which recognizes excellence in television, will be broadcast live on Fox from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sept. 22.

"Television is the world's premier entertainment choice and the global reach of U.S. television programming is immediate and impactful thanks to networks, channels, platforms and delivery systems that continue to grow," Scherma said in a statement.

"We are thrilled to have these two comedic talents join us to announce this year's Emmy nominees - programs and individuals whose excellent work is reshaping the television landscape," he continued.

The Daytime Emmy Awards took place in May with The Young and the Restless winning the top prize of Outstanding Drama.

Be Well,
Steve

Michelle Obama, James Corden have star-studded dodgeball match

Michelle Obama and James Corden assembled teams to represent the U.S. and U.K. for a star-studded match of dodgeball on The Late Late Show.

Obama's U.S. team consisted of Mila Kunis, Melissa McCarthy, Kate Hudson, Allison Janney and Lena Waithe.

Corden brought together Harry Styles, Benedict Cumberbatch, John Bradley and Late Late Show bandleader Reggie Watts to represent the U.K.

Obama's team won in the third round after Cumberbatch was left by himself against Janney and Waithe. The U.S. team was then presented with a giant trophy.

Comedic moments included Corden's team taking a tea break at halftime, Cumberbatch and his teammates wanting Obama to sign copies of her book and McCarthy suggesting that the match should be shirts vs. skins so that Styles could play shirtless.

The dodgeball game aired as Corden has taken the Late Late Show to his native England.

Megadeth cancels shows after Dave Mustaine's cancer diagnosis

Megadeth is cancelling a number of shows following Dave Mustaine's diagnosis with cancer.

The heavy metal band canceled the majority of its summer tour Monday as the 57-year-old singer and musician undergoes treatment for throat cancer.

Mustaine, who co-founded Megadeth with bassist David Ellefson in 1983, shared the news in an Instagram post Monday.

"I've been diagnosed with throat cancer. It's clearly something to be respected and faced head on - but I've faced obstacles before. I'm working closely with my doctors, and we've mapped out a treatment plan which they feel has a 90% success rate. Treatment has already begun."

"Unfortunately, this requires that we cancel most shows this year. The 2019 Megacruise will happen, and the band will be a part of it in some form. All up to date information will be megadeth.com as we get it. Megadeth will be back on the road ASAP."

Mustaine said he and his bandmates, Ellefson, Kiko Loureiro and Kirk Verbeuren, are working on a new album, the followup to 2016's Dystopia. He promised to "keep everyone posted" about his health.

"I'm so thankful for my whole team -- family, doctors, band members, trainers, and more," the star said.

Megadeth had several shows scheduled for the summer, including an Aug. 9 performance at the Illinois State Fair.

"While we are obviously disappointed that Megadeath [sic] won't be playing the Illinois State Fair, our main concern is for Dave Mustaine," fair manager Kevin Gordon said in a statement to NBC 5. "We wish him a fully recovery and look forward to having Megadeath back to the Illinois State Fair in the future."

The MegaCruise, a cruise with stops in San Diego, Calif., and Ensenada, Mexico, is scheduled to take place Oct. 13-18.

Which Anchorman actress spent Father's Day at her daughter's 3-hour dance recital?

Christina Applegate and her husband, musician Martyn LeNoble, spent Father's Day at their daughter's three-hour dance recital.

The 47-year-old actress, who is parent to 8-year-old daughter Sadie Grace with LeNoble, recounted the experience during Monday's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!

"It was a thrilling three-and-a-half hours at a dance recital, 'cause that's what all dads want to be doing," Applegate told host Jimmy Kimmel. "They hate their daddies, apparently, at this place."

Applegate said she treated LeNoble to brunch and a bloody Mary after sitting through about "4,500" dance routines.

"There was like 4,500 dance numbers. But my daughter was beautiful. Sadie, you were beautiful. You were lovely," she said. "She did two -- she did a contemporary number and she did a ballet number."

Applegate said she also had a surprising experience on Mother's Day in 2018.

"I was like, 'Yeah, all I really want is just, maybe you guys make me breakfast or something in bed or something like that. Get up before me.' Like no, that didn't happen. I was downstairs making breakfast, feeding the animals," the star recalled.

Applegate most recently starred in the TV series Dead to Me, which premiered on Netflix in May. The show is created by Liz Feldman and co-stars Linda Cardellini and James Marsden, and was renewed for a second season this month.

"We're really proud and we feel grateful to Liz Feldman for creating it," Applegate told Kimmel.
