'Riverdale': Luke Perry's final episode to air Wednesday

Riverdale will air Luke Perry's final episode this week.

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said in a tweet Sunday Perry will appear as Fred Andrews for the last time in Wednesday's episode.

Perry died at age 52 in March. He had played Fred, the father of Archie Andrews (KJ Apa), since Riverdale's debut in January 2017.

"This week's #Riverdale is the last episode Luke filmed. As always, Fred's imparting words of wisdom to Archie. A beautiful, true moment between a father and his son. Wish these scenes could go on forever..." Aguirre-Sacasa wrote.

Aguirre-Sacasa previously told Entertainment Tonight the cast would take some time before addressing Perry's death in the show.

"You know, honestly, we are I think all still in shock and are all still processing and grieving," the producer said in March.

"We know that we have to address it in some way, but we're giving ourselves a little bit of time and space before we figure out the best way to honor him," he added.

Perry died March 4 after having a massive stroke. Cole Sprouse, who plays Jughead Jones, remembered the actor as a warm and passionate person during an interview with Busy Tonight later in the month.

"We were very close to him," the actor said. "In the 26 years I've been doing this, he is a person I've never heard a single bad thing said about."

Riverdale stars Apa, Sprouse, Lili Reinhart and Camila Mendes. The series airs Wednesdays on The CW.

Jimmy Kimmel to host TV tribute to 'All in the Family, 'Jeffersons'

New 4 BelowJimmy Kimmel will honor All in the Family and The Jeffersons in a new TV special.

ABC announced in a press release Thursday the 51-year-old television personality will present a tribute to the classic Norman Lear series, Live in Front of a Studio Audience: Norman Lear's All in the Family and The Jeffersons.

The live, 90-minute special will air May 22 on ABC. Kimmel will co-host with Lear, with Brent Miller, Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Justin Theroux as executive producers.

The tribute will recreate an original episode from both All in the Family and The Jeffersons. James Burrows will direct the special.

Deadline said Woody Harrelson and Marisa Tomei will play Archie and Edith Bunker in the All in the Family recreation, with Jamie Foxx and Wanda Sykes as George and Louise Jefferson in The Jeffersons episode.

In addition, Ellie Kemper will portray Gloria Stivic, with Will Ferrell as Tom Willis and Justina Machado as Florence Johnston.

"The fact that a group of Oscar winners eagerly agreed to play these iconic characters is a testament to the greatness of these shows and their creator, Norman lear," Kimmel said in a statement.

Lear dismissed those who have said All in the Family and The Jeffersons "were meant for the '70s and would not work today."

"We disagree with them and are here to prove, with two great casts depicting All in the Family and The Jeffersons, the timelessness of human nature," the producer said. "I cannot wait to see what these glorious performers make in our time of these indelible characters."

All in the Family starred Carroll O'Connor and Jean Stapleton and had a nine-season run on CBS from 1971 to 1979. Its spinoff The Jeffersons starred Isabel Sanford and Sherman Hemsley and had an 11-season run from 1975 to 1985.

LOOSE LIPS:

"My last hangover lasted for five days ... I don't think drinking is bad. It's just the way I do it - which I personally think is really fun and awesome - is just not the kind of fun and awesome that goes with having a child for me. But this isn't a moralistic stance."
--Anne Hathaway, on why she chose to stop drinking while she's raising her 3-year-old son, in a Modern Luxury cover interview

Fox cancels 'The Gifted' after two seasons

The Gifted is the latest Marvel superhero series to be canceled in recent months.

Fox declined to pick up the show, which was set in the X-Men universe, for a third season this week, Variety reported.

The show's ensemble included Stephen Moyer, Amy Acker, Jamie Chung, Natalie Alyn Lind, Percy Hynes White, Sean Teale, Emma Dumont, Blair Redford and Coby Bell.

Deadline.com said it is possible the series could find a new home on the soon-to-launch Disney+ streaming service since Disney now owns Fox.

Several new Marvel shows such as WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier are expected to make their debuts on Disney+

Netflix previously canceled its own slate of Marvel shows, including The Punisher, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Daredevil.

Disney also owns Marvel Studios.

Lily Tomlin hopes to 'live to see' the '9 to 5' sequel

Lily Tomlin hopes to live long enough to see the 9 to 5 sequel released.

The 79-year-old actress gave an update during Thursday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show on the new movie co-starring Jane Fonda and Dolly Parton.

"They're writing it at the moment," Tomlin said. "Jane and I were just chatting about it recently. We hope that we live to see it. We're very advanced in years. I said to her the other day, 'I wonder which one of us would go first.'"

"Don't worry about it," she assured the audience.

Tomlin, Fonda and Parton played Violet, Judy and Doralee in the original 9 to 5, which opened in theaters in 1980. Tomlin said Fonda, who turned 81 in December, is in good health and incredible shape.

"She's incredibly well fit for her age -- even not for her age, for someone who's 20 years old she'd be well fit," the star said of Tomlin.

"I have worked out with her and I faked it very well. In the old days when we were on 9 to 5, I would drag my mat out of vision of the mirror and kind of [huff and puff]," she said. "She never stopped. She's been working out for [years]."

Tomlin and Fonda had discussed the 9 to 5 sequel during a joint interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in January.

"We're trying," Fonda said at the time. "We've got people writing it, hopefully."

Fonda previously said at a Television Critics Association panel she, Tomlin and Parton intend to be in the sequel.

"My role is as an executive producer, and I'm working with the writers, with Lily, and talking to the writers," she said.

Tomlin and Fonda also star in the Netflix series Grace and Frankie. The show co-stars Sam Waterston and Martin Sheen, and was renewed for a sixth season in January.
