Dehydration is when you lose more water than you take in. That makes it harder for your body to do some basic jobs, like keep your temperature steady and clear out waste. You lose water in your sweat, tears, and every time you go to the bathroom. Even breathing takes a little out of you.

More than half your body weight comes from water. So if your levels are off, it can show up in a surprising number of ways. Next time you experience a headache, feel tired at an odd time of the day or feel like you're losing focus- it could be your body asking for water.

One old wives tale is that you should drink at least 8 cups of water a day. But that actually has 0 science behind it. The amount of water you need to drink is based on how active you are, the climate you live in, and your overall health.

It is not an uncommon occurrence for someone to lose track throughout the day just to realize they haven't had any water to drink. Truthfully, I am at fault. I keep a water bottle by me at my desk all day but sometimes I get so wrapped up in working I forget to replenish my thirst.

I also get bored of drinking from plain, plastic, water bottles. Recently, I have been adding natural ingredients into my water like lemon, cucumber, and sometimes strawberries if I want something sweet.
