Surprisingly, peppermint is a cross between water mint and spearmint. The often familiar taste and smell comes from inside the plant it. It's been dated back thousands of years as a very popular medicines by the Ancient Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians. Even to this day peppermint is used for medicinal purposes and much more.
