Who's not going to be in this Dune movie? Jason Momoa is now in talks for a role.

Aquaman and Game of Thrones icon Jason Momoa is in talks to play the sword-master Duncan Idaho in the remake of Dune.

Deadline and Variety reported the negotiations Thursday.

Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 filmmaker Denis Villeneuve is directing the movie, which is expected to star Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgard, Charlotte Rampling, Javier Bardem, Zendaya and Josh Brolin.

Villeneuve, Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts wrote the screenplay for the film, based on Frank Herbert's sci-fi novel.

The book was previously adapted by David Lynch as a 1984 movie starring Brad Dourif, Jose Ferrer, Linda Hunt, Kyle MacLachlan, Virginia Madsen, Sting, Dean Stockwell, Max von Sydow, Alicia Witt and Sean Young.

I have never read, nor seen the previous movie adaptation of Dune, but I might check this one out.

Be Well,
Steve

Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom get engaged on Valentine's Day

Celebrity couple Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are engaged.

The 34-year-old singer and 42-year-old actor took to Instagram Friday after Bloom proposed with a flower-shaped engagement ring Thursday on Valentine's Day.

Perry showed off her ring in a close-up selfie with Bloom. The ring features a gold band and setting with a red center stone surrounded by diamonds.

"full bloom," she captioned the post.

Bloom shared the same photo on his own account.

"Lifetimes," he wrote.

The Lord of the Rings star had posted a quote about love from the Ikeda Daisaku book Buddhism Day by Day: Wisdom for Modern Life prior to his proposal, writing, "February 14, 2019 got nothing but love for ya'll."

"A shallow person will have only shallow relationships. Real love is not one person clinging to another, it can only be fostered between two strong people secure in their individuality," the actor quoted.

"Antoine de Saint-Exupery, author of The Little Prince wrote in a work called Wind Sand and Stars, 'Love is not two people gazing at each other, but two people looking ahead together in the same direction,'" he wrote.

Perry and Bloom have had an on-again, off-again relationship since 2016. Perry confirmed she's "not single" during the American Idol Season 16 finale in May following reports of a reconciliation with Bloom.

Ben Whishaw to reprise 'Paddington' voice in Nickelodeon series

Actor Ben Whishaw will lend his voice to the beloved character Paddington Bear in a new animated series for preschoolers on Nickelodeon.

Whishaw previously played the role in two big-screen blockbusters -- 2014's Paddington and 2017's Paddington 2 -- which mix live-action and animation. A third film is also in development.

"The new Paddington series sees a younger Paddington writing to Aunt Lucy from Windsor Gardens," a synopsis said. "Each episode will open and close with Paddington's letters as he tells Aunt Lucy what he has learned about life through the day's new exciting adventure. The series will invite a new generation of fans into Paddington's world full of heart, kindness, slapstick humour, fun and generosity."

The show is in production and expected to premiere in 2020. It follows a bear from Peru who is adopted by the British family who find him lost in London's Paddington train station.

"It is a joy to bring this uniquely life-enhancing bear to a whole new audience of younger children. We are thrilled that the inimitably brilliant Ben Whishaw will continue to voice Paddington," executive producer David Heyman said in a statement Thursday.

Heyman also produced the Paddington movies, as well as the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts film franchises.

Michael Bond, who wrote the classic Paddington children's books that inspired the show and films, died in 2017 at the age of 91.

Whishaw's other credits include Mary Poppins Returns, A Very English Scandal, Spectre and Skyfall.

Ben Affleck confirms he won't play Batman again

Uh-Oh SaleBen Affleck has confirmed on Jimmy Kimmel Live he will not play Batman again in another Warner Bros. movie.

The 46-year-old actor explained on Thursday he planned to direct and star in the next Batman movie, but couldn't "crack" the story and thought it best to leave the project to someone else. Kimmel asked him if there was a statement he wanted to make and Affleck replied, "I don't know. I guess. . . I am not Batman."

Kimmel officially retired the cape and cowl from Affleck's costume. To make room for the item, Kimmel said he would get rid of another piece of memorabilia in his collection -- the sparkly thong Affleck's longtime friend Matt Damon wore in the TV movie Behind the Candelabra.

"Please give it to him or have it destroyed," Kimmel said.

"Thank you. I will," Affleck said.

The cape was then revealed to say "Batfleck 12" on the back.

"That's (Tom) Brady's number. You can't be a hero unless you're wearing No. 12," Affleck said, referring to the New England Patriots legend.

Warner Bros. announced last month that a movie called The Batman from writer and director Matt Reeves is scheduled for release on June 25, 2021.

The studio said Affleck -- who played the caped crusader in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, briefly in 2016's Suicide Squad and in 2017's Justice League -- would not be reprising his role in the new movie.

"Excited for #TheBatman in Summer 2021 and to see @MattReevesLA vision come to life," Affleck tweeted at the time.

He did not publicly, explicitly address his departure until his appearance on Kimmel.

No replacement has been announced yet.

Amazon renews 'Jack Ryan' for Season 3

Amazon has renewed Jack Ryan, an espionage thriller starring John Krasinki, for a third season.

"Cannot. Contain. Excitement," Amazon tweeted.

"His next assignment won't be his last," the show's Twitter feed said.

Co-starring Abbie Cornish and Wendell Pierce, Jack Ryan was renewed for a second season last April ahead of its Season 1 premiere in August.

No debut date for Season 2 has been announced yet.

CIA agent Jack Ryan has previously been played by Chris Pine, Ben Affleck, Alec Baldwin and Harrison Ford in screen adaptations of Tom Clancy's popular spy novels.
