Hello Video Lovers,

'Sledgehammer' was the lead single on Peter Gabriel's So album which came out in 1986. It made number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. The music video was pretty cutting edge for its time. It won a record nine MTV Video Music Awards.

I was in high school at the time and fell in love with this song. The whole album, actually. This was my introduction to Peter Gabriel and in years of listening I have enjoyed almost everything he's done, but even today just listening to the opening notes of that flute brings me right back to my high school days and the excitement of discovering I really, truly enjoyed and appreciated.
