It might be one of the most iconic images in the world, the giant ball dropping in Times Square in New York on New Year's Eve. Times Square attracts over 27 million visitors each year, and New Year's Eve is the climax of 364 days of anticipation. But this celebration would never have started if it weren't for the subway.
