Kevin Hart will host the 91st annual Academy Awards on Feb. 24, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced.

Hart confirmed the news on Instagram Tuesday where he commented on taking on the duties as host of the event for the first time in his career.

"For years I have been asked if I would ever host the Oscars and my answer was always the same...I said that it would be the opportunity of a lifetime for me as a comedian and that it will happen when it's supposed to," Hart said alongside an image of an Oscar statuette.

"I am blown away simply because this has been a goal of my list for a long time," he continued. "I will be sure to make this years Oscars a special one."

Jimmy Kimmel previously served as host in 2017 and 2018. The ceremony, which awards excellence in film, will be broadcast on ABC. The 2019 Oscar nominations are set to be announced on Jan. 22.

The Academy has promised that the upcoming award show will not run over three hours as it has in previous years. Select categories will also be presented before the live audience during commercial breaks and then edited to be aired later on the broadcast.

A previously proposed Most Popular Film Oscar category has been shelved.

Ryan Reynolds says fatherhood is a 'dream': 'I love it'

Ryan Reynolds loves being a dad to his two young daughters.

The 42-year-old actor discussed 4-year-old James and 2-year-old Inez, his children with Blake Lively, on Tuesday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

"It's kind of made me a better person, I think," Reynolds said of parenthood. "I sort of miss being horrible."

"It's hard. It's always a challenge, with two kids. I think of blinking now like tiny little breaks," he jokingly added. "But it's a dream. They're the best. They're my buddies. I love it."

The Deadpool star teased the possibility of a third child after jokingly saying he's only had sex with Lively twice.

"It's just clinical," he said. "Hoping for a third soon."

Reynolds and Lively spent Thanksgiving with their daughters in Abu Dhabi, where the actor is filming the Netflix movie Six Underground.

"It was a lot of fun. It was cool to bring my kids to this entirely new culture," Reynolds told host Ellen DeGeneres.

"It was kind of interesting to have Thanksgiving in a completely different country, in a place where they don't necessarily celebrate," he said. "Both of our kids were there, so we wanted them to see as much as possible."

Reynolds and Lively married in September 2012. Reynolds told etalk in December 2016 that Ines brought "more" love to their family, saying he loves watching James interact with her younger sister.

NBC renews 'The Good Place' for a fourth season

NBC has renewed comedy series The Good Place, starring Kristen Bell and Ted Danson, for a fourth season.

The official Instagram account for The Good Place confirmed the renewal Tuesday alongside a Season 4 logo.

"#TheGoodPlace will be broken for a fourth time!" read the caption.

William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil, D'Arcy Carden, and Manny Jacinto also star on the series created by Mike Schur about a group of strangers who become friends and who want to prove that they are good people after entering into the afterlife.

The still-ongoing third season finds the group back on earth where they are continuing to show that they can be good in order to avoid being sent to the bad place.

Danson commented on the renewal on Twitter alongside a short video.

"Grateful 4 another season with these 4king guys. Soul Squad 4ever!" Danson said.

Danson was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series at the 70th annual Primetime Emmy Awards in September for his role on The Good Place.

Will Ferrell to resurrect Ron Burgundy character for new podcast series

Will Ferrell is set to revive his Anchorman character Ron Burgundy for a new podcast series that will premiere in early 2019.

The show, titled The Ron Burgundy Podcast, will be made available on the iHeartRadio Podcast Network and is being co-produced by iHeartRadio and comedy website Funny or Die.

A second season of the program is also expected to launch in 2019.

A Twitter account for the character announced the podcast Monday on Twitter. Burgundy told CNN's Don Lemon his White House press credentials were pulled because he ate too many hot dogs in the press break room.

"The media landscape is changing so fast and I DO NOT CARE FOR IT. That's why I'm starting a 'podcast!'" the comedic reporter said.

Ferrell portrayed Burgundy in 2004's Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and again in 2013's Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.

"Listen, I don't know what a podcast is, but I currently have a lot of time on my hands and a lot to talk about," Burgundy said in a statement. "I am also broke. Therefore, I am very excited to do this podcast. It is literally saving my life."

Demi Lovato is finding strength in Brazilian jiu jitsu following her stint in rehab.

The 26-year-old singer posted a makeup-free selfie from the gym Tuesday after returning home from a treatment facility in November.

The photo shows Lovato wearing her jiu jitsu uniform at Unbreakable Performance in Los Angeles. She encouraged her fans to keep fighting in the caption.

"Sweaty, messy jiu jitsu hair.. #BJJ #bluebelt #nevergiveup," the star wrote.

Lovato earned her blue belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu in August 2017. She celebrated the achievement in an Instagram post at the time.

"I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction," the star wrote. "What I've learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It it something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet."

"The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side," she said.
