Idris Elba named People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive for 2018

Actor Idris Elba has been named People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive for 2018.

"I was like, 'Come on, no way. Really?'" the British star, 46, said Tuesday to the publication about earning the distinction.

"Looked in the mirror, I checked myself out. I was like, 'Yeah, you are kind of sexy today.' But to be honest, it was just a nice feeling. It was a nice surprise - an ego boost for sure," he continued.

Elba further commented on the honor on Twitter alongside an image of himself on the cover of People's Sexiest Man Alive issue.

"Who'd have thought it! Thank you @people & all the fans for naming me #SexiestManAlive. Don't forget to grab your issue this week. I'm honoured & thankful. What's even more important is your vote in the midterm elections. Your vote can make a difference!" Elba said.

Elba is best known for starring in HBO's crime drama series The Wire and is also the lead star in BBC's Luther. He has appeared in a number of hit films including Marvel's Thor series, Star Trek Beyond, Jungle Book and Pacific Rim, among others.

Elba is the 33rd annual Sexiest Man Alive since People magazine started the award in 1985 with Mel Gibson. Country star and Voice coach Blake Shelton won the title in 2017.

HBO starts filming 'Deadwood' movie in LA

Production has begun in Los Angeles on the long-awaited Deadwood movie, HBO Films announced Monday.

"The indelible characters of the series are reunited after 10 years to celebrate South Dakota's statehood. Returning for the movie are show stars Ian McShane, Timothy Olyphant, Molly Parker, Paula Malcomson, John Hawkes, Anna Gunn, Dayton Callie, Brad Dourif, Robin Weigert, William Sanderson, Kim Dickens and Gerald McRaney.

Directed by Daniel Minahan, the followup was written by David Milch. The western-themed drama ran for three seasons 2004-06.

The sequel was first announced in July.

Chip and Joanna Gaines' son Crew makes TV debut

Chip and Joanna Gaines couldn't help but gush about son Crew during his TV debut.

The television personalities introduced the 5-month-old infant to Today anchors Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb during Tuesday's episode of the NBC morning show.

"He is a gift," Joanna told Guthrie and Kotb. "We were just talking the other day about how he's slowed down time for us. He has just been a gift."

Chip and Joanna are parents to Crew and four other children, 13-year-old Drake, 12-year-old Duke, 12-year-old Ella and 8-year-old Emmie. The couple discussed the possibility of a sixth child in the interview.

"He wants [Crew] to have a sister," Joanna said of Chip.

"I love the process of being pregnant, I love giving birth, so, you know, we don't wanna," she added before trailing off.

Joanna gave birth to Crew in June. She penned a candid post about mom guilt Sunday after taking time to pick and press flowers with her daughter Emmie.

"I know at times it can be hard to find simple ways to connect with your kids," the star wrote. "Especially in the tired and the hard and busy times in life. It can feel like it's all or nothing. But I really believe it's somewhere in the middle where the grace is extended and these simple, unplanned moments are actually the sweetest."

"I write all this for any of you out there who may experience 'mom-guilt.' I promise you that's a never ending cycle that leads to nowhere. Replace the word gilt with grace," she said. "From one mom to another, stop being so hard on yourself."

Chip and Joanna came to fame on the HGTV series Fixer Upper, which ended in April after five seasons. Joanna released the cookbook Magnolia Table the same month.

Which singer is Billboard's 2018 Woman of the Year?

Ariana Grande has been named the 2018 Woman of the Year by Billboard.

Grande will be presented with a Woman of the Year award at the 13th annual Women in Music dinner and awards gala in New York on Dec. 6.

The singer has had an eventful year, releasing her fourth studio album Sweetener in August. The release reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts and earned the largest streaming week ever for a pop album by a female artist upon its release.

"Ariana Grande is a star on her own terms, never bending to any particular musical trend or path in the industry," Billboard's vp of content Ross Scarano said in a statement.

"Certain in her convictions, she consistently stands up for herself and her decisions in a world that often isn't hospitable to that sort of strength in young women. She's got guts, she's making some of the best music of her career, and she's absolutely deserving of Woman of the Year," he continued.

Grande joins a list of past winners that include Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Pink, Fergie, Madonna and last year's winner Selena Gomez.

"Thank u for this honor @billboard," Grande said on Twitter Tuesday.

The pop star also released a lyric video for her latest song "thank u, next." The track features Grande singing about her past relationships with Ricky Alvarez, Big Sean, Mac Miller and Pete Davidson.
