Here's the Scoop...

This just in...

Rock group Maroon 5 has been booked as the act for the 2019 Super Bowl Halftime Show, media reports said Wednesday.

Variety said it confirmed the news with two sources, but neither the musicians nor the National Football League have officially announced it yet.

"The offer has been extended and they've pretty much accepted," Us Weekly quoted an insider as saying.

The game is to be played in Atlanta on Feb. 3. The band is now on tour to support its 2017 album Red Pill Blues.

Recent halftime show performers have included Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, The Who, Katy Perry and the Black Eyed Peas.

Well, It's not as if I needed another reason not to watch the Super Bowl, but thanks anyway, Maroon 5.

Be Well,
Steve

WB: Joaquin Phoenix will start out as Arthur Fleck in 'Joker'
Warner Bros. said its Joker origin story will follow Joaquin Phoenix's Arthur Fleck as he transforms into Batman's greatest foe.

Todd Phillips -- who is directing and producing the project from a screenplay he co-wrote -- shared on Instagram last weekend the first photo of Phoenix as the character. The image showed an unsmiling Phoenix wearing rumpled attire. It was captioned "Arthur," but Phillips' post contained no other hints about the eventual villain or the film's plotline.

"Joker centers around the iconic arch-nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen," the studio said in its first synopsis for Joker. "Phillips' exploration of Arthur Fleck, a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale."

Filming is now underway. Co-starring Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais and Shea Whigham, the movie is set for theatrical release Oct. 4, 2019.

Jessica Simpson pregnant with third child
Singer Jessica Simpson announced with a series of photos on Instagram that she is expecting a baby girl, her third child with husband Eric Johnson.

Simpson posted a series of photos to Instagram showing her previous children with Johnson, Maxi and Ace, popping giant balloons to reveal smaller pink balloons, signifying she is expecting a girl.

"This little baby girl will make us a family of five," Simpson wrote. "We couldn't be happier to announce this precious blessing of life."

The third photo showed Simpson holding her baby bump. She did not disclose the due date of the baby.

The couple's first daughter, Maxwell Drew Johnson, was born in 2012. Their second child, son Ace Knute Johnson, was born in 2013.

Which singer announced she will be hosting her own daytime talk show on 'Tonight Show'?

Julie Chen leaves 'The Talk': 'I need to spend more time at home'
Julie Chen has stepped down as co-host of The Talk following her husband Leslie Moonves' exit as CEO and chairman of CBS amid sexual misconduct allegations.

Chen announced that she was leaving The Talk in a pre-recorded video that was played at the end of Tuesday's episode. The video was taped while Chen was on the set of Big Brother, another program she hosts.

"I need to spend more time at home with my husband and our young son, so I've decided to leave The Talk," she said. Chen went on to thank each co-host individually, the production crew and fans.

"I will always, always cherish the memories we shared. Most important, I want to thank you, the viewers, for allowing me into your home every day. It was a privilege that I will forever be grateful for," she continued.

Chen is still expected to continue on as host of Big Brother, Variety reported.

Moonves was recently ousted from CBS, which broadcasts The Talk and Big Brother. He was first accused of sexual assault and harassment in a July article published in the New Yorker. A second article was then released in September featuring six more women accusing Moonves of sexual misconduct over the past 30 years.

Chen and Moonves have been married since 2004. The pair share an 8-year-old son together, Charlie.

Jack Black gets a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
Actor Jack Black was honored with the 2,645th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday.

Black, who was honored for his career acting in film as well as his work with his comedy rock group Tenacious D, said he was "nervous" and "embarrassed" to receive the star, which fulfilled a lifelong dream.

"If you get one of those starts on the sidewalk, that mean's you've made it and I feel like I've finally grasped that sweet brass ring!" Black said. "The question is, where do we go now?"

Actor and writer Mike White, who starred alongside Black in School of Rock, commended Black for being a "warm, genuine and kind person" and for taking time to interact with fans.

"To be as famous as you are, and still be a human, takes a strong sense of self, a strong sense of character," White said. "He loves people, he loves to be loved and people love him. What I think is the most impressive is that the legend that they love is incredibly close to the actual person that he is."

School of Rock Director Richard Linklater hailed Black's acting ability.

"There are hundreds and hundreds of actors who could do a good Hamlet, but there are only a few who really can do what Jack does," he said. "There's only one Jack Black."

Black made his film debut in 1992 and went on to appear in nearly 150 films, including School of Rock, Shallow Hall, 2005's King Kong and Nacho Libre.

He also starred in Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny, which followed a fictionalized version of his comedy rock band with bandmate Kyle Gass, and lent his voice to the Kung Fu Panda films.

Black joked that he planned to retire after receiving the star to focus on "diet and exercise" and pass the spotlight to the next generation, including his sons.

"Seriously it's time to pass the torch to the Uzi Verts and the Lil Peeps and... the Tommy and Sammy Blacks of the world," he said.

He added he would make Jumanji 2, another Kung Fu Panda film and three more Tenacious D albums "and that's it."

"Unless something really cool comes around," he said.

He ended his speech with a jab at the current U.S. president, saying "I love you all so much, except for Donald Trump," who he referred to using an expletive.
