Greetings...

Thank you for all the emails that are still arriving as we "speak". I haven't read all of them yet because by late last night, after reading so many emails on my computer, Iphone, and Ipad, I'm not sure, but I think I may have actually emailed myself telling me how happy I am to see me in my mailbox. I kind of knew it was time to take a break by then...

When I sat down to compose my column Sunday night and after sending it to have it scheduled, I was left with one of those, "Why do I feel like I forgot to tell them something"? For the life of me, I couldn't think of it and just put it out of my mind UNTIL...

It "hit" me or should I say, it "itched" me...

While smoking has caused me the current health problems I am going through, it did not cause what else I came down with...

SHINGLES...TA DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

Yep, a few weeks after getting out of the hospital, I came down with Shingles. Boy howdy, now there's a good time!!! You may remember my mom came down with Shingles three years ago. She still has the lingering nerve pain although it's not as bad as it was, but can flare up from time to time...

Nah, I didn't get a Shingles shot since most doctors tell you to get one at 60. I figured I'd worry about it in three years...

If you've had them, you know what I'm talking about, if you haven't, get the shot. In case you may have looked away from the computer and didn't "hear" me....

GETTTTTT THEEEEEEE SHOTTTTTTTT....

I have felt lucky from time to time and getting Shingles was really one of those times because the Shingles rash is usually on one side of the body. The pain radiates from the spine and the rash can appear anywhere from a mild case to a severe case. Mine wasn't a severe case luckily, but I was "lucky" enough to be one of those rare people who got the rash on BOTH sides in various locations, back, legs, left cheek, (and I'm not talking about the apples of those cheeks)...

The pain is excrutiating, but the itch? Let's just say I started eyeing the cactus out in my yard to determine whether or not I should use it as a scratching post. I decided against it when I realized it would look like I was mooning my own cactus and risk sexual harassment of plant life...

I finally got over them 3 weeks ago after having them almost 3 months. Given how long my mom has been suffering, I feel pretty lucky and my cactus are all untouched...

While I was gone, I can't tell you how many times something would happen that would cause me to formulate a column in my head regarding a topic. I would actually sit at the computer and for whatever reason, stare at the screen and then decide to go lie down instead...

I'm going to do my best to try to get back on some kind of schedule, but can't promise fully...

As far as TV goes, I'm having a hard time trying to watch everything that I like because lately, it seems like everything is on at the same time and you can only DVR two things at a time. On demand helps, but something inevitably gets skipped over due to the abundance of unwatched shows...

Still love the singing reality shows. Love the Voice, watching the X factor because I still love Simon. Not so sure about American Idol anymore and that feeling is stronger after seeing who they hired for the upcoming season.

Nicki Minaj? Really???? I'll give it a chance of course, but I'm thinking this season may have some talented people singing the show's swan song...

Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez both got what they wanted the two years they were on Idol. A nice paycheck and a big re-birth career boost worth millions of dollars. Too bad they sucked as judges. Based on the already reported problems between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, they might want to consider adding a referee on the panel in between them. Poor Keith Urban...

Ta Ta for now...

:-)
