'Battle: Los Angeles' DVD

Aaron Eckhart stars in this sci-fi actioner about extraterrestrial aliens invading Earth. The movie consists largely of firefights between the aliens and US Marines, and there are lots of explosions. The extraterrestrials attack several heavily populated coastal areas around the world, including Southern California. A Camp Pendleton Marine unit led by Staff Sergeant Michael Nantz (Eckhart) battles the aliens in Santa Monica, but the decision is made that the Air Force must perform saturation bombing. The Marines then take on the mission of rescuing civilians gathered at an LA police station.

'Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son' DVD

This family comedy is the follow-up to Big Momma's House (2000) and Big Momma's House 2 (2006), and Martin Lawrence returns as FBI agent Malcolm Turner, who again goes undercover by donning a fat suit and facial prosthetic to become the elderly lady called Big Momma. This time around Malcolm is joined by his stepson Trent (Brandon T. Jackson), who disguises himself as a homely young woman going by the name of Charmaine. To hide out from criminals, Big Momma and Charmaine must live at an Atlanta all-girls school, where they have adventures reminiscent of Some Like It Hot.


'Hall Pass' DVD

Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis (Saturday Night Live) star
in this Farrelly brothers comedy that combines raunchy and
gross-out humor with sweet sentimentality. Rick (Wilson)
and Fred (Sudeikis) are 40-something suburban guys who, even though they have attractive wives (Jenna Fischer and
Christina Applegate), continually ogle young women. A relationship expert recommends giving the husbands a "hall pass," so the women leave town for a week, during which the guys can do whatever they want. Some funny things happen to Rick and Fred, and they learn some life lessons.

'Red Riding Hood' DVD

Inspired by the fairytale, this movie was directed by Catherine Hardwicke and stars Amanda Seyfried. Valerie (Seyfried) has grown up in an isolated medieval village and likes a poor, but handsome woodcutter (Shiloh Fernandez). But her parents (Virginia Madsen and Billy Burke) want her to marry a rich, but handsome blacksmith (Max Irons). Meanwhile, Valerie likes to wear a red cape her hip grandma (Julie Christie) made for her. However, there's a werewolf loose in the area, and a priest (Gary Oldman) is brought in. The film's mystery is the identity of the werewolf, but all is eventually resolved.
