'Biutiful' DVD

Javier Bardem was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for his performance in this Spanish-language drama directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu (Babel, 21 Grams). The film's setting is the seamy underbelly of Barcelona, where Uxbal(Bardem) is an underworld businessman who gets fake designer purses made in a sweatshop by illegal Chinese immigrants and supervises their sale by street vendors who are illegal Senegalese immigrants. Also, since Uxbal's estranged wife is mentally unstable, he must raise their two kids. But he's in crisis because he has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

'Drive Angry' DVD

Nicolas Cage stars in and Patrick Lussier (My Bloody Valentine) directs this over-the-top actioner that features
violence, gore, sex and nudity. John Milton (Cage) encounters a good-looking waitress (Amber Heard), and soon the two of them head for Louisiana in her '69 Dodge Charger. Milton is on a mission to rescue his infant granddaughter from a cult leader (Billy Burke). But pursuing Milton is a mysterious man in a banker's suit known as "the Accountant" (William Fitchner). In one scene, while having sex, smoking a cigar and swigging whiskey, Milton shoots a dozen thugs.

'Kaboom' DVD

Written and directed by Gregg Araki, Kaboom (2010) premiered at Cannes where it was awarded the Queer Palm for its contribution to lesbian, gay, bi or trans issues. The film is basically a raunchy, campy college sex comedy with some sci-fi elements. It centers on Smith (Thomas Dekker) and his best friend/sidekick, a wisecracking lesbian (Haley Bennett). Smith lusts after his surfer-dude roommate, gets into a sexual relationship with a pretty girl (Juno Temple)and has casual sex with a hunky guy at a nude beach. Meanwhile, there are weird dreams, abductions, a conspiracy and a witch.
