Greetings,

Today on DVD, 'The Fighter' staring Mark Wahlberg and
Christian Bale, who earned best supporting actor for the
film at this year?s Oscars. I was skeptical at its release
because it looked to be just another run-of-the-mill,
underdog sports drama. But every aspect of this movie is
unique, and the two leading actors are riveting. Check out
the trailer under the description for 'The Fighter'.

'The Fighter' DVD

The film was based on the true story of junior welterweight
Micky Ward (Mark Wahlberg), and it's a boxing story and a
dysfunctional family story. At first Micky is trained by his
crack-addicted brother (Christian Bale) and incompetently
managed by his mother (Melissa Leo), but his boxing career is
going downhill. Then his girlfriend (Amy Adams) gets Micky
to realize he's going to have to make some painful changes.

'Hereafter' DVD

Clint Eastwood directed and Peter Morgan wrote this drama
about contact between living people and the dead. The film
intercuts three separate stories that don't converge until
near the end. One centers on George (Matt Damon), a San
Francisco factory worker who seemingly can connect people
with their dead relatives, though he views the capability
as a curse. A second story is about a Paris-based woman
(Cécile de France) who is in Thailand when she has a near-
death vision during a tsunami. The third story involves
12-year-old British twin boys, one of whom is killed in an
accident.

'The Switch' DVD

Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman star in this romantic
comedy. Kassie (Aniston) wants to be artificially insemin-
ated, and her best friend Wally (Bateman) is not happy when
she refuses his offer to supply the sperm. She opts to have
Roland (Patrick Wilson), a hunky university prof, donate
his sperm, but Wally substitutes his semen for Roland's.
Kassie goes away for seven years and returns with a six-year-
old son. Then she begins dating Roland, while Wally baby-sits
the little boy. The movie is not so much about Kassie as it
is about Wally working his way through this tricky situation.
