January 21, 2011

Greetings...

Well...I never thought I'd say this and certainly not this soon, but...

Simon who? Yep, you heard me, and no, the medication I'm on isn't affecting
my thinking. For those who have decided against watching American Idol this
year, (as I contemplated), I suggest you give it another look!

The first thing that was obvious was the "fun" that I think we're all in
for with the panel of judges, Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, and Randy
Jackson. The voices are what they are judging, not looks, weight, or
anything else Simon made it a point to belittle and humiliate. Yes,
he knew talent, no question, but was always turned by a pretty girl with
big boobs...

J.Lo has altered the way I thought of her, and unless it's all an act
and changes along the way, I have to say she is a wonderful addition
to the judges table...

Always loving the wild and wacky Steven Tyler, I found myself smiling
and just enjoying watching him watching the contestants and enjoying
some of the very good voices that I heard already. We all know he will
be *Bleeped* a few times a show, but it's what makes him fun and not
at all offensive...

Randy is probably the most negative of the bunch, but that is understandable
because he's been there so long and isn't trying to fit in. He's also aware
how many crash and burn in Hollywood and is making sure he's the choosiest...

I admit, I'm a sucker for Underdogs and some of the stories and contestants
that weren't "cookie cutter molds" caught my eye and ears and I'm already
rooting for them to do well in Hollywood, but we still have a longgggg way
to go before we get through all the other "stuff"...

So, those of you who watched, what did YOU think?

***

While American Idol may have been the big thing to watch on TV this week,
it pales in comparison to the event that I am preparing for and that is
the NFC Championship between my Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers
for the chance to go to the Super Bowl...

I'd be lying if I didn't say I'm "worried" because the Packers are good,
tough, and may be hard to beat all the way through. Rodgers scares me
and unfortunately, Cutler sometimes scares me more, if you get my drift!

Defense is strong on both sides, but I give that edge to Da Bears and
the weather, which is called "Bear Weather" is a wash since it's colder
in Green Bay and could be called "Packer Weather." Home field advantage
is a plus that may or may not have an impact. I'd like to think it gives
a slight edge which is all they may need...

Flyboy is bummed he has to work, but I will be hosting the NFC Championship
party here with my two defensive ends, Moosie and Ginger. I will be taping
up the rib that went from being bruised to cracked according to the last
X-ray, because yelling hurts as much as coughing and I won't be able to stop
either one during the game! Of course I will be wearing all the appropriate
Bears clothing, and who knows, I may not even shave my legs for the full
"Grizzly" affect...I know, TMI...

Sorry for going on about Da Bears, but I love football soooo much and this
is one of those rare occasions that we get to root for the team I love. I
will wish the Packers fans good luck, but not too much of it, if you don't
mind... :-)

And for all my Bears fans, please join me in prayer...

Our father, who art in Chicago, football be thy game. Let Forte run,
another Superbowl won, on earth as it is in Soldier Field. Give us Sunday
a playoff VICTORY and forgive us our penalties, as we defeat the Packers
who play against us, and lead us not into the late season and deliver us
to Texas. For thine is the D-line, Urlacher, Briggs, Tillman, Hester
and Peppers forever...Amen! Pass it on Bears Nation!!

Have a great weekend everyone!

:-)
