'The American' DVD
George Clooney stars in this psychological thriller. At
film's beginning, Jack (Clooney) is an assassin enjoying a
holiday with his lover Ingrid in a remote cabin in Sweden.
An attempt on his life results in three people being killed,
and he flees, ending up hiding out in a picturesque mountain
town in Italy. There he befriends an elderly priest and
patronizes a prostitute named Clara. As his relationship
with Clara deepens, Jack works on making a custom sniper's
rifle for a woman named Mathilde. Jack slowly comes around
to the idea that he wants to change his life, but his situ-
ation is perilous.

'Resident Evil: Afterlife' DVD
The fourth installment in a sci-fi action series based on a
video game, this is the follow-up to Resident Evil (2002),
Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004) and Resident Evil: Extinc-
tion (2007). The situation is that the world is in a state of
zombie apocalypse caused by the evil Umbrella Corporation.
The heroine is Alice (Milla Jovovich), a genetically altered
superwoman who tries to help human survivors. This time
around Alice makes her way to an abandoned prison in L.A.
where survivors are holed up, and she sets out with some of
them for a safe haven known as Arcadia.
