When Mosquitoes bite us it is actually because they release a material into our skin when they bite us and it causes swelling, redness, tenderness, and heat, which then turns into an itch. Our bodies naturally release histamines when it a mosquito bites us and that is actually what causes the itching. Some people will use anti-histamines to relieve the itching sensation, but those have many side affects including drowsiness. There are many natural options out there for relieving the itching associated with mosquito bites. You will find them listed below!

-Ice Packs- This will actually numb the nerve and make you no longer need to itch, as well as keeping the swelling down.
-Tea Tree Oil- This oil acts as an anti-inflammatory. Not only that, it also has anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties that helps to prevent infections from any scratching that may occur.
-Vinegar (Apple Cider works too)- If you have all over bites, dilute 2 to 3 cups in a bathtub of warm water, or put a few drops on a cotton ball and wipe individual bites.
-Tea Bag- Cooled Tea Bags can ease swelling on mosquito bites and draws extra fluid out of the bites.
-Basil- Crush up the leaves or buy the essential oils and apply it to the bites. It will help relieve the itching because it contains camphor and thymol.
-Citruses (Lemon or Lime)- You can either use the juice or the peels to help relieve the itching and swelling of the bites. However, only use this remedy indoors. It will cause blistering in the sun!
-Peppermint- You can dab the bites with toothpaste, essential oils, or a paste made from the leaves. The cooling sensation blocks the brain from the itching sensations.
-Skim Milk and Water- Soak a handkerchief or washcloth in equal parts of milk and water. It relieves itching, swelling, and inflammation. It also working on sunburns as well!
-Aloe- This works well at soothing the itching and swelling sensations associated with mosquito bites!
