Acts 10:30-31
So Cornelius said, "Four days ago I was fasting until this
hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and behold,
a man stood before me in bright clothing, and said, 'Cornelius,
your prayer has been heard, and your alms are remembered in
the sight of God.'"
Greetings Bible Enthusiast!
A fast may last for a meal or two, a day or two, or even
longer as directed by the Holy Spirit. It may consist of
eating no food but allowing oneself water, or perhaps fluids,
or it may consist of eating or drinking nothing at all for
whatever period of time.
In Acts 7:5, Paul instructs husbands and wives to abstain
from one another "with consent for a time, that you may give
yourselves to fasting and prayer..." It is clearly something
that believers have been, and should be doing as part of
our prayer life.

Exodus 34:28
It is hard to imagine fasting this long and would require
clear direction from the Holy Spirit. A long period of
fasting is an extreme measure described in the Bible only
in extreme circumstances.
